One might think that it would be wise to remove non-citizens from the voter rolls to ensure a fair election in November – but Harris-Biden’s Justice Department apparently disagrees.
They are suing the state of Virginia on technical grounds – the election is too close for such proceedings, they say. It’s critical to note, however, that with less than three weeks left before the most consequential presidential election of our lifetime, the Justice Department and its enforcer, Jack Smith, are busy dropping revised indictments against Donald Trump – violating virtually every norm ever had been founded.
Old Dominion State Governor Glenn Youngkin was horrified:
In a statement, Youngkin dismissed the Justice Department’s lawsuit, saying the lawsuit was “politically motivated.”
“With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Department of Justice is filing an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia over a 2006 law signed by Democrat Tim Kaine that requires Virginia to expel non-citizens from the United States “Voter rolls – a process that begins with someone declaring themselves a non-citizen and then registering to vote,” Youngkin said.
With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Justice Department is filing an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia for properly enforcing a 2006 law purging non-citizens from the voter rolls.
Virginians – and Americans – will…

Virginians – and Americans – will see this for exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to attack the legitimacy of elections in the Commonwealth, the crucible of American democracy.
Utah Senator Mike Lee was equally outraged:
The Biden-Harris administration is engaging in election interference
They harass states that want to ensure that non-citizens cannot vote
This is an illegal abuse of power https://t.co/mxrKQRIdpb

The DOJ claims that Youngkin is violating the so-called “quiet period”:
The complaint alleges that the state’s Board of Elections and Virginia Election Commissioner Susan Beals violated the federal National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), which requires states to complete their maintenance program no later than 90 days before an election for rest periods.
The agency alleges that Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin violated the NVRA when he announced and subsequently executed an executive order requiring the election commissioner to regularly update the state’s voter rolls to remove people who “identified as non-citizens.” and they had not responded to a request to verify their citizenship within 14 days.
Under Youngkin’s order, Virginia deported 6,303 people.
“The Executive Order formalized the program and announced that between January 2022 and July 2024, 6,303 individuals were removed from the rolls using the same process,” the complaint states.
I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on television, and I will not comment on the legal arguments in this case.
But I would ask: Is this what we envisioned for the top legal department in the United States – that it would work to prevent a state from purging ineligible voters from the voter rolls, that it would expel a former president from a political point of view? Differences that they would harass American citizens because of their stance on abortion and parental involvement in schools? We can be forgiven for not trusting a single action that comes out of our once vaunted institution, because Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Attorney General Merrick Garland have so damaged the DOJ’s reputation that nothing that comes from it can be trusted at face value .
This seems like another attempt to game the system and you can understand why Glenn Youngkin and Mike Lee are so disgusted.
