On Sunday evening, “60 Minutes” finally released a statement on the scandal surrounding the show’s recent interview with Kamala Harris. The answers were not affable.
Before we get there, however, the background to this situation is critical. As RedState reported, “60 Minutes” posted a clip online of Harris answering a question about Israel and the war in Gaza. As you’ll see, the word “answer” does a lot here, because what came out of the Vice President’s mouth was almost incomprehensible word salad.
WHITAKER: But it seems Prime Minister Netanyahu isn’t listening.
HARRIS: Well, Bill…The work that we have done has led to a number of movements by Israel in this region that have been largely triggered by or the result of many things, including our advocacy of what needs to happen in the region.
Harris has one long Story of him spewing pathetic nonsense when pressed on a solemn subject. To call them indolent would be an insult to the indolent. This is a woman who doesn’t put in any effort at all because she doesn’t think it’s necessary. However, it wasn’t just Republicans who realized how bad this exchange looked for them. “60 Minutes” decided to cut and paste that answer into a completely different one when they aired the interview on television.

Here’s what was said in the edited version.
WHITAKER: But it seems Prime Minister Netanyahu isn’t listening.
HARRIS: We will not stop pursuing what is necessary to ensure that the United States is clear about where we stand in terms of the need to end this war.
That brings me to the “60 Minutes” statement in question. Instead of taking responsibility for the fraudulent processing, the opinion accuses Donald Trump, insisting that the exchange of answers is irrelevant because they are “the same.”

60 Minutes gave Face the Nation an excerpt from our interview that used a longer portion of her response than 60 Minutes did. Same question. Same answer. But another part of the answer. When we edit interviews, be it with politicians, athletes or movie stars, we make sure to be clear, precise and to the point. The portion of her response to “60 Minutes” was more succinct, leaving time for other topics in a lengthy 21-minute segment.
Remember, Mr. Trump cut low his interview with 60 Minutes and the vice president attended.
Our longstanding invitation to former President Trump remains. If he wants to talk about the nation’s problems and the Harris interview, we’d be ecstatic to have him on 60 Minutes.
What is written above is simply a lie. As the transcripts above show, the two responses were in no way, shape, or form “the same.” Calling Trump a liar when he’s absolutely right about what he did on “60 Minutes” just shows how far CBS News has gone. This statement does not come from a news organization. It’s a statement from the Harris campaign that was lost on no one, including the Trump camp.
The Trump campaign responded with the obvious retort: Release the transcript.
They also issued the following statement.
60 Minutes just admitted to doing exactly what President Trump accused them of doing. They edited another answer – another part of their answer – to make Kamala Harris sound less incoherent than she really was. Their statement is not a denial, but rather an admission that they did exactly what they were accused of doing. This is another reminder of how hopelessly biased 60 Minutes is and how right President Trump was to decline their invitation to subject themselves to their bogus news hacking attacks. Why doesn’t 60 Minutes release the transcript and end this controversy? Because they did exactly what they were accused of doing. They copied and pasted another answer over one of Harris’ word salads to protect it politically.
CBS News is a joke. It’s a dumpster of a network that no Republican should have always reappear. Deny them credibility and let them languish as a broadcast version of MSNBC. No network that behaves like this and then has the courage to make such a statement deserves to be taken seriously.
