WASHINGTON — With exactly two weeks until Election Day, millions of Americans have already cast their votes by mail or in person as Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump track voters across battleground states.
Early personal postal voting began Tuesday in Wisconsin, adding to the list of swing states where voters have already started casting ballots, the Wisconsin Examiner reported.
Georgia, another battlefield, saw record As the Georgia Recorder reported, voter turnout in the first week exceeded 1.4 million ballots cast, more than a quarter of the total turnout in the 2020 presidential election.
Two national polls released Tuesday show Harris with a lead, particularly among newborn voters. Reuters/Ipsos polls conducted Oct. 16 through Monday showed Harris with a narrow lead 3 pointshardly a change from Ipsos’ results the previous week.
The latest quarterly CNBC/Generation Lab survey found Harris has a 20-point lead among 18- to 34-year-olds.
All eyes are on Latino voters
The Harris campaign alerted the press to an “opportunity” early Tuesday agenda for Latino men.”
The proposal would provide 1 million forgivable loans of up to $20,000 in start-up funding to Latino men “and others,” eliminate college degree requirements for certain jobs, and encourage first-time homeownership among Latinos Building affordable homes and providing $25,000 in tax breaks for recent buyers – two policy ideas for all Americans that she has been touting for months.
Survey results were published on Monday showed Harris continues to outperform Trump among Latino voters in the battlegrounds of Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
A group of Christian Latinos showered Trump with praise in Miami, Florida, on Tuesday. With hands on Trump’s shoulders, religious leaders prayed for him at a roundtable event at Trump National Doral Golf Club.
Guillermo Maldonado, founder of King Jesus International Ministry, said the election was “not a war between the left and the right.” This is a war between good and evil. We can fight it, and we need spiritual weapons.”
“Father, we have anointed him today, we have anointed him as the 47th President of the United States to restore biblical values. No weapon aimed at him will succeed,” Maldonado, who holds the title “Apostle,” continued in his prayer for Trump. The event streamed live on C-SPAN.
Immediately after the prayer, Trump’s signature campaign song “YMCA” by the Village People played and roundtable leaders began handing him books and hats to sign.
During the roundtable, Trump accused Harris of “sleeping” and “taking a day off.” He also again accused her of having a “low IQ.”
“There’s something wrong with her,” he told the crowd.
Liz Cheney, CNN and Springsteen
Harris campaigned Monday with former U.S. House Republican Rep. Liz Cheney in suburbs in three states — Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. Cheney is the daughter of former GOP Vice President Dick Cheney, who also supports Harris.
“For me, every single experience and background played a role in my decision to support Vice President Harris,” said Liz Cheney, once the third-highest-ranking Republican in the House. “It starts with the fact that I am a conservative and I know that the most conservative of all conservative principles is loyalty to the Constitution.”
According to her publicly available schedule, the vice president was scheduled to tape two interviews with NBC and Telemundo on Tuesday afternoon. And she’ll be taking part in one on Wednesday night at 9 Eastern CNN Town Hall in Pennsylvania, moderated by host Anderson Cooper.
Then on Thursday, Harris and former President Barack Obama will lead a “Get Out the Vote” rally in Georgia, featuring a performance by Bruce Springsteen, to encourage early voting.
On Friday, the vice president will travel to Houston, Texas, to advocate for abortion rights. She is joined by Democratic U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, who is trying to unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.
Trump cancels appearances, plans rallies in Georgia
Trump cancelled a scheduled appearance Tuesday at an event called “Make America Healthy Again” that was scheduled to include guests Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Democratic Rep. and Republican Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
Trump’s keynote speech scheduled for Tuesday at a National Rifle Association event in Georgia was also canceled.due to scheduling conflicts.”
The former president also scrapped a planned start of October interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” and recently scheduled appearances on CNBC and NBC News’ “Squawk Box.”
Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday his schedule includes two events – a “Believers and Ballots Faith Town Hall” in Zebulon, Georgia, with the state’s lieutenant governor Burt Jones rallying for Turning Point PAC and Turning Point Action in Duluth, Georgia.
Trump is scheduled to give the keynote address for Turning Point’s United for Change Rally on Thursday evening in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Politico reported On Tuesday, the former president will record an interview with popular podcast host Joe Rogan at his studio in Austin, Texas on Friday.
