During a fireside chat Thursday night at the Reagan Foundation Institute in Washington DC, Republican New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu revealed some of what other governors – both Republican and Democrat – really think about the Democratic Party’s leading womanizers, Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom. And it’s nice to see Newsom himself getting a taste of his own trolling.
Frederick Ryan, president of the Reagan Foundation Institute, asked Sununu how governors can play a larger role in guiding the public toward a more civil political climate and discourse. Sununu responded:
Lead by example. Almost all governors get along. In my eight years, I can honestly tell you there were literally two, maybe a third, but two real governors that really nobody liked, nobody liked.
Ryan then asked Sununu if he would name names, and after saying, “Are you sure you want to?” Sununu spat it out:
[Former New York Gov.] Andrew Cuomo. A nasty idiot. Nobody likes him. And I have to be forthright, nobody cares about Gavin [Newsom]. Gavin is just an asshole. Excuse me. That’s just the way he is. It’s really disappointing. I got along with him – we all got along with him for a while. But even the Democrats don’t tell you out thunderous, but behind closed doors they say, “Oh God, look who’s coming,” and they all roll their eyes.
Democrats nationally aren’t the only ones who feel this way; even in California, there are plenty of elected Democrats who loathe the man. They just can’t say it out thunderous.
