After denigrating half of America, the Obamas and Clintons are now making statements about grace

If they had been forthright about its problems months ago, they would have had time to hold a normal primary and have a competent person lead it – by the will of the people, not at the hands of the elite.

Something equally delicious about voters’ rejection of this kind of tactic on Tuesday will be that in five or 10 years and beyond, very few people will remember much of the NeverTrump movement.
WHAT’S UP?
Today on Capitol Hill…
We are still waiting for the final Senate election calls in Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada. At the moment it looks positive that Dave McCormick (R) will replace Bob Casey (D) in Pennsylvania. In Arizona, Kari Lake (R) leads Ruben Gallego (D) by more than 52,000 votes with 74 percent of votes counted. In Nevada, incumbent Democrat Jacky Rosen edged his Republican challenger Sam Brown by 12,700 votes, with more than 95 percent of votes counted. If things continue as they currently are, this would give the GOP a 53-47 seat majority. My suspicion is that we will receive these calls sometime on Thursday.
On the House side, it may be another week or two before the final decisions are made, especially in Alaska with ranked choice voting, which fortunately they also rejected this time and therefore will not come into effect after that. Republicans currently have a 212-197 lead. That leaves 26 seats to be decided, meaning Republicans only need to win six of them to retain the majority, while Democrats would need to claim 21 seats. Keep your fingers crossed.
What’s going on in the White House?
President Joe Biden is scheduled to address the nation at 11 a.m. Eastern Time to discuss the election results and the transition to the novel administration. On Wednesday, Biden spoke with President-elect Donald Trump (by the way, I’m so glad we can get past the “former” qualifier) to congratulate him on his victory and invite him to the White House to ensure a “smooth process.” to ensure transition.”
Postmortem
Early Wednesday afternoon, Vice President Kamala Harris also called Trump to congratulate him and then gave a breezy, if somewhat lackluster, address to her supporters at Howard University. Interrupted by a squirrel (the ghost of P’Nut?) running across the stage right before her remarks.

The huge news on Wednesday is that special counsel Jack Smith is resigning from his job and “dropping” his two criminal cases against Trump. And just like that… he was gone…

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is due in court on Thursday after missing a deadline to release his assets under the $148 million libel judgment filed against him by Georgia election officials Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss.
Morning rumination
So it looks like this time around, virtually all demographics went in Trump’s favor, but it was Generation X that really came out on top. I’m not surprised. We are senior enough to have seen a lot and juvenile enough to know that we have a few more decades to live in this world. I’m cautiously sanguine, but I keep reminding myself to rein it in. The forces working against meaningful (and positive) change will not proceed in silence on this good night. Let’s pray that being older and wiser pays off and that Trump and his team of rivals can lend a hand get things back on track.
