One of the more engaging things about the Trump-Vance bust-up in the just-ended election isn’t the near landslide of 312 electoral votes that Donald Trump and JD Vance won. It’s not even a margin of nearly five million votes in the total number of votes. It’s not even the Trump campaign’s brilliant utilize of fresh media, not least the president-elect’s and vice president-elect’s three-hour, unscripted, unedited sessions with Joe Rogan. (Rumor has it that Barron Trump was the mastermind behind this fresh media strategy, and if true, the juvenile man has a future ahead of him as a campaign consultant.)

The really large news is the political realignment of some key demographic groups — some of whom used to be Democratic mainstays.

NBC News national political correspondent Steve Kornacki has the numbers. Here you can see:

(It’s) not just that Donald Trump wins the election, but also that he won the popular vote. First time in two decades for a Republican, and how did he do it? He did it by transforming the Republican Party. It is more diverse today than at any time in up-to-date times, and certainly more diverse than when Donald Trump first arrived on the scene eight years ago.

The most vital changes include:

Voters under 30: Before Trump, Democrats had a 23-point lead in this demo – and Trump cut it to 11.

Voters with incomes under $50,000: Democrats had a 22-point lead over Trump; Trump increased this to a three-point Republican Party lead.

Voters without a college degree: Before Trump, they voted for the Democrats by four points; Trump has caused that demographic to explode to a 14-point Republican lead.

Black voters: Before Trump, they voted for the Democrats by a whopping 87 points. Trump reduced the number to 72.

Hispanic/Latino voters: Before Trump, they voted for Democrats by a 44-point margin. Trump reduced the number to six.

Asian voters: Before Trump, they voted for the Democrats by 47 points. Trump reduced the number to 15.

Democrats, especially the tattered remnants of the Harris/Walz campaign, are probably still scratching their heads and wondering why. While I personally hope they never catch on, there are some pretty obvious reasons for anyone with eyes to see.

First: The Democrats have chosen the crazy left. They abandoned people like Joe Manchin in favor of AOC and The Squad, who don’t have five IQ points to match between themselves. They have literally driven the last sane people out of their party – people like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, both of whom will have roles in the fresh Trump administration. Oh, the Democrats have been ripping off some squeamish establishment Republicans like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, and you know, I make that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Second, Democrats have failed regular, working Americans. The Democratic Party today is largely made up of coastal elites and ivory tower academics who don’t see $5.00 a gallon gas and skyrocketing food prices as a problem because their incomes are generous enough that they won’t be greatly affected by it, and besides, they do the math so that most farmers drive around too much anyway. They don’t see a problem with boys hitting our daughter’s face with volleyball or sharing her showers and locker rooms, and they don’t understand why people are upset about all the taxpayer-funded handouts to people who are in the country illegally.

Until Democrats understand this – unless they revisit the concerns of the majority of voters – these demographic changes will only continue.

Honestly, I hope they never catch on.
