Tom Homan, former acting director of ICE, Fox News contributor and Donald Trump’s new border czar, is “pissed off” and ready to take on the challenges of securing US borders.
As RedState’s Jennifer Oliver O’Connell reported Monday, Trump has begun naming the people who will play major roles in his second administration, and Tom Homan is one of them. Trump said in his announcement that Homan, a “strong advocate for border control,” would be responsible for “the southern border, the northern border, all maritime and air security.” Homan will also be “responsible for all deportations of illegal aliens back to their country of origin.”
There’s no doubt that border security was on many American voters’ minds when they went to the polls last week. Homan is likely to be a popular choice among conservatives because of his take-no-prisoners approach to dealing with our now porous southern border. Or, as O’Connell aptly put it:
Homan is matter-of-fact, matter-of-fact and, above all, action-oriented. Exactly what Americans expect and need from a border czar. No hunting for causes, and Homan looks like he prefers scarce steaks to word salad.
Look, I’ve been on this network for four years complaining about what this government has done to this border. I yelled and screamed about it and told them what they needed to do to fix it. When the president asked me, “Would you come back and fix this?” Of course I have to do that. I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t. I am honored that the President is asking me to come back and assist resolve this national security crisis.
Homan admitted he would miss his Fox News “family,” but it was “clear” he had to go back because he gets up every day and is “angry about what this administration has done to the most secure border of my life.” “. He also said he had been “off the grid” since the election because of the many calls and emails from border and ICE officials upset about the rumor that Homan would be in charge of border security.
Homan and his family also receive death threats, but he refuses to be intimidated, declaring: “They will not bully me, they will not silence me, they will not force me to leave.” This is the biggest national security breach this country has experienced since September 11th.
When asked how the second Trump administration would handle the issue of deportations, Homan replied:
I’ve made it clear, President Trump has made it clear: threats to public safety and national security will be a priority because they must be. They represent the greatest threat to this country, so we will prioritize these groups.
Homan sharply criticized the Biden administration’s penniless performance in policing sex trafficking and made clear that the Trump administration’s top priority will be finding the more than 300,000 children Biden has lost track of. Homan said: “These children live hellish lives every day. We must rescue these children and return them to their families.”
The incoming border czar also said he would welcome assist from local law enforcement to assist in deportations and in retrieving lost children who were smuggled into the country and may have fallen into the hands of human traffickers. He is likely to run into problems on that front, as left-wing officials like Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healy have vowed not to cooperate with Donald Trump’s mass deportation efforts.
Tom Homan is uninterested in the theatrics or threats of the left, declaring, “I don’t care if you’re a Republican, a Democrat or an independent. Border security is national security. We should all be on the same page.”
