Another U.S. House race has been called in Republicans’ favor, bringing the GOP one seat closer (and just one seat away) from retaining the majority. Colorado’s eighth congressional district has now officially been nominated for Republican Gabe Evans, who defeated incumbent Democrat Yadira Caraveo and turned the seat red.

With more than 95 percent of votes counted, Evans leads Caraveo by 0.8 percent, just 2,596 votes, which is one of the reasons for the tardy voting.

Caraveo has officially admittedwith the statement:

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of Colorado’s 8th District. I came to Congress to get things done and have worked over the last two years to find common ground and bipartisan solutions to our community’s most pressing issues.”

Evans also released a statement celebrating the win:

Decision Desk has now officially called the race for Evans, and now its eyes turn to AZ-06 and a handful of races in California (plus Alaska, but that could take a week or more thanks to ranked-choice voting) to see , if/when the GOP will pull it across the finish line.

We will of course continue to monitor the matter closely and will update you as soon as we know anything definitive.
