James, James, James. You still don’t get it, do you? On Saturday on “The Bulwark Podcast” (because of course that’s what it was), James Carville gave what he no doubt thought was a post-mortem of last week’s presidential election, and boy, did he come up with some nonsense.
Carville explained Harris’ defeat in an interview with Tim Miller published on “The Bulwark Podcast” on Saturday.
“By the way, she had every advantage. We had a unified party, from Dick Cheney to AOC, everyone agreed that whatever you want to do is fine,” Carville said, referring to former Republican vice president and progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.). .Y.). Both supported Harris’ campaign.
“We had more people on site. We had more volunteers, we had more money, okay? We had more surrogates, but we had no reason,” Carville continued.
Dick Cheney? James, you saw Dick Cheney as one Advantage? Seriously? I know you talked to the… people at the Bulwark, but come on!
And Kamala Harris had all the advantages? Well, there was at least one advantage she lacked – being a good candidate. James, in case you didn’t know, that negates any other advantage she may have had.
He continues:
Carville said the campaign was strong, but “since the beginning of time” no number of resources or technology could overcome the lack of a reason to vote for a candidate.
“You can’t have a reason to beat it with technology or beat it with volunteers or do that,” Carville continued. “The overall message here, Tim: One reason, and she didn’t give us a reason.”
Aside from the rather awkward double negative, Carville is actually right here: Kamala Harris hasn’t given people any particular reason to vote for her other than her melanin content, her plumbing skills, and “OMG OMG TRUMP IS A NAZI!”
Not a winning formula. And that’s entertaining, because James Carville was clever enough back then to be one of the main architects of Bill Clinton’s two successful campaigns.
Time was obviously not kind to the man.

See, Kamala Harris’ loss went much deeper than her having “no reason to vote for her.” There were all too many reasons to vote against her: her support for transgender surgeries at taxpayer expense for prison inmates, her completely failed tenure as Joe Biden’s “border czar” that caused millions of illegal immigrants to flood into the United States, to name just a few couple.
But when James Carville says “every advantage,” he misses not only these, but also what is really striking disAdvantage of the queen of word salads: She is not likeable.
As in: people don’t like them.
One of Donald Trump and JD Vance’s greatest assets is their ability to connect with people. Real people, not above Celebrities, political activists and paid visitors, but real people. Trump’s stay at McDonald’s, his ride in the garbage truck, his appearance on Joe Rogan, and virtually every public appearance he made proved this. And JD Vance, even though he was a senator and is now the vice president-elect, had humble beginnings, and it still shows in his every interaction.
Kamala Harris, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to like people much. Their only interactions are fraudulent – carefully written and staged. There’s nothing real here, and people definitely saw through that.
So, James, sure, Kamala had every advantage from the Bulwark’s perspective. But last Tuesday she told you clearly that she didn’t have the advantages she needed to fend off one of the biggest presidential elections in years.
