There has been excitement in recent days as President-elect Donald Trump announced one major appointment after another to his incoming Cabinet. On Wednesday, he announced a few key positions outside the Cabinet that will be critical to setting his agenda and ensuring a smoothly running administration: senior White House staff.
Some familiar names are in the group:
DAN SCAVINO will return to the White House as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff. Scavino was a senior adviser to the Trump campaign and remains one of President Trump’s longest-serving and most trusted advisers.
STEPHEN MILLER will return to the White House as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for policy and homeland security adviser. Miller was a senior adviser to the Trump campaign and previously served in the Trump White House as senior adviser to the president for policy.
JAMES BLAIR will serve as Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative, Policy and Public Affairs. Blair served as political director for the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee, managing hundreds of staffers and overseeing a broad portfolio of political operations and programs.
TAYLOR BUDOWICH will serve as Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications and Human Resources. Before joining the Trump campaign, Budowich served in a senior position at President Trump’s leadership PAC, Save America, and as CEO of the pro-Trump super PAC, MAGA Inc.

The Trump team has been keeping up an incredible pace lately, and it seems not an hour goes by without another substantial election being announced. Plus, it seems to be a polished, well-oiled machine working here – there is no “chaos”, no drama, no crazy leaks from dissatisfied subordinates. As much as the media would like to portray this as an out-of-control modern administration, the reality appears to be very different, and it is clear that Trump has learned a lot about how to operate in the swamp during his first term. No strangers, just loyalists.
Trump:
“Dan, Stephen, James and Taylor were best-in-class advisers in my victorious campaign, and I know they will serve the American people honorably in the White House,” President Trump said. “They will continue to work hard in their respective new roles to Make America Great Again.”
However, one major choice has yet to be decided: the attorney general. That could be the most essential thing of all as Trump sets out to reform the justice system that has been so poisoned by Biden, Harris and Co.
