As expected, the upcoming sequel “Trump II: The Return of Killer Trump” is shaping up to be a blast. If there’s one thing Donald Trump is good at, it’s being a bull in a Washington china shop, and this time not only has he (pardon the mixed metaphor) taken the gloves off, but he’s also appointing people who never knew where Gloves came first. He’s going to try to get a lot done, and he’d better plan for two things: a two-year window to get things done, since we can only rely on a Republican-controlled House and Senate until the next election, and that the Democrats will resist every step of the way.
Granted, that’s what Democratic voters expect of them, and it’s also part of what makes our constitutional republic work the way it does. But you can go too far, and that’s exactly what’s happening, with some Democratic governors and members of the House and Senate advocating a “shadow government.”
This is exactly the right thing open rebellion.
The Democrats openly reject the democratic election results and form a shadow government that works against the will of the American voters. Worse than denying this is betrayal. pic.twitter.com/wbrEKi4PIS

The speaker in this video is Democratic Rep. Wiley Nickel of North Carolina not seeking re-election because of redistribution. So why is he worried about a shadow government? Because he has ambitions for the upper house in the midterm elections.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Wiley Nickel said Thursday he will not seek re-election to Congress next year, citing congressional redistricting by Republican state legislators This fall, that is likely to shift North Carolina’s delegation to the right. And Nickel said he is interested in running for the U.S. Senate in an election that is nearly three years away.
But wait! There’s more! It’s not just Democrats in Congress who are doing this They are treading the line of rebellion:
Democratic governors are forming a coalition of states to defy election results and reject federal control of the government. This is not denial, this is insurrection. https://t.co/IcuGDNjk6e pic.twitter.com/CCo8IzabTs

These governors, led by Jared Polis of Colorado and JB Pritzker of Illinois, appear to be Creation of an intergovernmental compact.
The governors of Illinois and Colorado, both Democrats, announced the formation of a novel alliance to oppose President-elect Donald Trump’s policies just weeks before he takes office.
The Alliance, named “Governors Safeguarding Democracy” (GSD), is touted as a bipartisan coalition of governors who will work together to prevent “authoritarianism” and the “undermining of democratic institutions,” including executive branch agencies, elections and state courts, a Nov. 13 report said opinion the group announces.
Through the group, governors will employ their “unique legislative, budgetary, executive and administrative powers to deliver results for the American people.” the statement says.
The alliance will also develop “playbooks” to enable governors and their teams to “anticipate and quickly respond to emerging threats,” the statement said. The group did not provide any information about what the threats were.
Because we can be sure that there are no threats other than “OMG, ORANGE MAN BAD”. Everything he has done so far is legal and constitutional. In fact, President-elect Trump won’t be in office for another few months, and people are already panicking. There is no longer even a semblance of reason among the left. And yes, it is wonderful.

On X there is a user named “RedDevil” (@Snakeeater36) makes an excellent point:
Something else to add. The shadow government is crucial to insurgent organizations. Something that needs to be protected, guarded and kept secret because of the risk these members take. Shadow governments win through subversion and delegitimization of the existing organization.
Besides, it’s probably not the best idea to announce who specifically you want to contribute to Subversion. Announcing their intention and specifically referring to these team members as “shadows” is either 3D chess-level too large to remove from the board, or is so absurdly stupid that it’s no wonder the Republicans won have.
He speaks of an actual uprising. This brings with it some unpleasant consequences. Granted, I don’t expect members of Congress or state governors to take up arms and openly rebel, but this kind of rhetoric has already led to two – count ’em, two – assassination attempts before Donald Trump was even re-elected. And the left doesn’t seem inclined to tone down its rhetoric; Now they are encouraging rebellion.
So why are they making these noisy announcements?
Not only is there nothing in the Constitution that allows them to take such actions, but forming intergovernmental compacts, as Governors Polis and Pritzker appear to be doing, is expressly prohibited. Article I, Section 10, Clause 3 states (emphasis mine:)
No State shall impose tonnage requirements or maintain troops or warships in time of peace without the consent of Congress. enter into an agreement or contract with another stateor with a foreign power, or make war, unless actual invasion occurs or there is imminent danger which does not admit of delay.
RedState’s Susie Moore has some legal insight into what precedent these governors might rely on:
It’s in partial shade…

Yes, I doubt that precedent will fly in this case. Although it’s a comical pun because “penumbra” means “a partial shadow,” there’s nothing biased about what these people are threatening. And what is that?
They plan to defy constitutional authority. For example, several states have been asked to defy federal authority to deport illegal immigrants or to ignore measures to close borders. These are the same people who shouted: “Federal agency“As border state governors, frustrated by Washington’s inaction, took their own actions to stem the tide of people entering the country illegally.
The shoe pinches when worn on the other foot.
This means staying on the line of rebellion. What Representative Nickel is proposing is rebellion. The constitution does not allow “shadow governments.” What the governors of Colorado and Illinois are proposing is rebellion. The Constitution prohibits intergovernmental agreements without congressional approval.
The worst thing about all of this is the precedent it sets. When it became clear on election night that Donald Trump had won the election, we knew the left would be rattled. But that is worrying. They are taking the nation in a very unsafe direction and are threatening to ignore or even defy the legal powers enshrined in the Constitution. If the positions were reversed and minority Republicans threatened a shadow government, the clamor would be heard Land of Fire. But the bad man from Orange is back and making plans to cause a stir – but again, everything he plans and proposes is (so far) legal and constitutional. What the left is planning here is neither one nor the other.
It’s possible that all of this is nothing more than gaseous emissions. But if not, these people are proposing to send us down a very shadowy path indeed – one that could well lead to violence.
