According to a report by CNN chief legal affairs correspondent Paula Reid, journalists were seen consoling each other in the hallways after learning that President-elect Donald Trump had chosen Matt Gaetz as his attorney general.
Reid provided the insight during a segment on “The Situation Room” with Wolf Blitzer.
Blitzer asked for the panel’s thoughts on what the nomination would mean for the Justice Department. Reid chimed in, pointing out that Gaetz’s choice was controversial because of his ongoing investigation.
“But just because you were investigated, right, Hillary Clinton was also criminally investigated but not charged, doesn’t mean you can’t be attorney general,” she said.
Then she pulled back the curtain and shed lithe on how some journalists handled the news.
“But he won’t get a particularly warm welcome from the career people there (the DOJ),” Reid added.
OMG LMAO 🤣🤣🤣

If that’s not enough to convince you that Gaetz’s selection caused a stir among all the right people, then take a look at the reaction from reporters.
“We saw people today, our fellow reporters, crying and hugging each other in the hallways,” Reid said. “I’ve received sources – text messages from sources, the Trump administration, the Biden administration, no one supports this.”
To quote former FBI Director James Comey: “Lord, I hope there are tapes.”
When you not only have the Justice Department upset about who the potential novel attorney general might be, but there’s also a dichotomy in the fact that mainstream media reporters are crying foul over it? Holy cow.
This Trump election is legendary, no matter what happens in the future. We’re all going to get tired of winning, aren’t we?
Stop trying to make me like Gaetz… https://t.co/QnF50rCc4E

The 45th and soon-to-be 47th president praised Gaetz in announcing the nomination, saying he would “end gun government, protect our borders, dismantle criminal organizations and restore Americans’ badly damaged faith and trust in the Justice Department.”
I mean, that’s probably what caused the journalists to burst into tears.
As various reports indicate, Gaetz is likely to face the most opposition of all Trump candidates. The resistance of the Democrats in the Senate is a given. But there will also be some Republicans in the chamber who will disagree.
The only potentially open path is to force it through recess appointments, which Trump has insisted on and which novel Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has signaled a willingness to pursue.
If it seems too far-fetched that journalists are shedding tears over the nomination, consider that in the same clip above, CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig dramatically calls Gaetz “a crazy choice,” “a dangerous choice” and someone of ” great concern.”
Get the man a paper bag before he hyperventilates.
As for the DOJ, well, they’re already nervous. Senior FBI officials are reportedly in turmoil over Trump’s victory and fear a “bloodbath” of firings.
Things are just starting to get engaging, and Trump isn’t even back in the White House yet. Everyone – get the popcorn!
