Sooner or later people return to form. It is inevitable for all but some of us. In the case of HBO’s die-hard liberal, “Real Time” host Bill Maher, it’s usually earlier.
Such was the case in Friday’s episode, when Maher, who has not been shy about rebuking Democrats throughout the presidential campaign and its aftermath, returned to form by not only insisting that Democrats would respond differently; if they lose elections as Republicans, but also absurdly suggest that “nobody gives a damn” that incumbent Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. Bob Casey continues to refuse to admit he lost his seat, instead insisting that election officials simply “recount the votes.”
Yes, we’ve seen this before, Bill.
One of Maher’s guests was Fox News contributor Mary Katharine Ham, who gave him no quarter, and he had no intention of giving her an inch. either. It was classic.
Maher opened the celebrations by suggesting to Ham that if Trump had lost the election, America would experience what it experienced after the then-President refused to admit that he had lost the 2020 election, what with the insurrection culminated at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 (emphasis mine):
What I’m asking is that you know if Trump would have lost the election by now We would talk about the votes still to come in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, and he would be in courtand we would all receive a tithe. One side accepts electoral losses, the other does not. This asymmetry cannot continue.
Mary Katharine didn’t feel like it: “Wait, wait. Wait.” Maher ignored her and continued, “And the people who are defending him can’t just look past that and say, ‘Well, we won the election, that’s all.'”
Mary Katharine stood her ground:
Wait a minute, wait a minute, Pennsylvania Democratic Senator Bob Casey is doing exactly what you say by hoping for all those votes when trying – in Bucks County commissioners say we need imitation oneswe have to Get everyone who is not registered—
Maher couldn’t handle it The little glimpse of reality, and they went back and forth:
MOWER: No, they just count them.
HAM: No, that’s actually not true.
MOWER: You just count them.
HAM: That’s actually not true—
MOWER: It is.
The argument continued – with Mary Katherine, of course:
HAM: And if you dismiss that and don’t see the speck in your own eye, then that’s a problem.
MOWER: So you’re saying Bob Casey – that’s Trump in 2020 –
HAM: No, I’m not saying they are equivalent, I’m saying that you have to recognize that these things happen in 2016 or 2000, for example.
MOWER: No, they didn’t. No, they didn’t.
[…]
HAM: I don’t think it’s as asymmetrical as you say, and I do too –
MOWER: Well, at the presidential level it is. Okay, Bob Casey, no one gives a shit or even knows who he is.
HAM: I mean, that was part of the problem.
Maher finally reluctantly admitted – sort of.
It’s a ridiculous argument. It doesn’t matter, we’re talking about the United States of America and who gets to run it and who gets to appoint everyone. Let’s get on with it because I know I’ll never make any progress here.
Typical liberal reaction. I’m right; You are wrong and I will never convince you of it.
Warning: rugged language
So here we are.
It will be compelling to see how Maher and others sometimes reasonable Liberals will react if (when) Trump begins to fulfill the promises he made throughout the campaign, from stemming the steady flow of illegal immigrants into this country to eliminating the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) madness ) from federal authorities and the US military.
