Lincoln Project co-founder just discovered a new anti-Trump divide and it’s hilarious

It appears that at least one member of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project has discovered an entirely new trick after the 2024 election.

After being completely crushed on Election Day, Democrats are preparing a new kind of “resistance” against President-elect Donald Trump and Republican leaders.

This time the left is abandoning the pink hats and the rabid purple hair protests and pursuing a broader strategy that relies on influence, power and messaging. Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, is reportedly playing a crucial role in this new “resistance.” New York Times Report.

Democrats are increasingly convinced that their efforts must extend beyond the political sphere and are trying to go on the offensive in a fragmented media environment where conservatives have gained more influence. A new liberal dim money group began seeking donors with the intent of unearthing unflattering revelations about the Murdoch family and Elon Musk — both pro-Trump media tycoons.

The group, called the Two Plus Two Coalition, plans to “target the hidden sources of disinformation and expose them for what they are,” according to a donor prospectus distributed last week. The group asked donors for a minimum investment of $1 million and aimed for an annual budget of $10 million to $15 million.

The group’s senior adviser, Rick Wilson, a former Republican activist and co-founder of the Lincoln Project, said in an interview Thursday that his organization would operate as an opposition research firm, but with a military intelligence operation that went far beyond the document review typical of a political campaign out.

“A lot of people on the center and on the left have been complaining about Fox for a long time, but they haven’t done anything about it,” Wilson said.

That’s right, dear reader. Wilson’s role in this movement is to dig up negative information about Elon Musk and the family that owns Fox News as part of his huge media empire. This will show them!

Wilson’s claim to fame since 2016 has been “Orange Man Bad.” He’s essentially a grimmer version of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) who can’t go more than five minutes without mentioning how bad the Orange Man is.

The Lincoln Project was initially touted as a major player in the anti-Trump space. The organization is made up of down-and-out establishment Republicans who decided to take their ball and go home after Republican voters rejected them outright in 2016. Since then, they have proven themselves to be complete failures when it comes to attacking Trump and the MAGA movement. Yet they have been quite successful in deceiving donors and giving them millions of dollars to post ineffective anti-Trump ads on social media.

At least they’re good at something.

This is part of a broader strategy by Democrats to oppose a second Trump administration by exploiting the power of the state and using legislation to replace the mass protests of 2017. Democratic-controlled states plan to do everything they can to oppose Trump’s policies on immigration, abortion, and other issues.

Advocacy groups like Democracy Forward have mobilized hundreds of lawyers to challenge the president-elect’s policies in court. Democratic governors have formed a coalition called Governors Safeguarding Democracy to coordinate their resistance efforts.

Wilson’s group will probably be as useless as the Lincoln Project. But the rest of the movement could actually resist. With Republicans set to control the White House and both chambers of Congress, Democrats have little chance of advancing their agenda at the federal level. At this point, resistance at the state level is the only option they have left – and it looks like they’re planning quite a fight.
