CBS’ “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert invited Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) to Thursday’s episode of the left-wing “entertainment show” to promote, of all things, his novel children’s book and explain the differences between them Republicans and Democrats. Yes, grab the popcorn.

Before the segment ended, Colbert concluded that Republicans don’t believe all Americans should have access to health care. Surprised? Me neither.

Colbert brought up the issue with a predictable left-wing lineup.

To shed some airy on this, because while almost everything in what you just said is very good to say, a Republican sitting in this seat could say the same thing: except access to healthcare for all. This might be the only thing where she – no, because they don’t believe in universal healthcare. They would like to do it Get rid of Obamacare.

That’s the only gigantic department, or that’s one of the gigantic departments you mentioned. Are there any other specific things that you say, “I’m a Democrat, so I believe this should happen. That my opponents don’t believe it should happen.” That’s what I mean by defining the democratic message. What does it mean to be a Democrat versus what it means to be, how do you perceive Republicans?

Colbert was right in one significant respect: conservatives tend to oppose universal health care (public health systems, as they are called in Britain) and the disaster of Obamacare. We’re coming to Why the opposition shortly.

As you can imagine, Jeffries couldn’t wait to respond to Colbert’s misinformed nonsense (lies).

Well, we will We want to protect and strengthen Social Security, not eradicate or end it as we know it. We will protect and strengthen Medicare, protect the Affordable Care Act because we believe that in the United States of America, of course Healthcare should not be a privilege but a right and we want to bring this to life and believe that every job in America should be a well-paying job that allows you to live a comfortable life. Take care of your families and We also believe in a woman’s freedom to make her own reproductive health decisions.

The Democratic Party has melodramatically declared for decades that it would “protect” Social Security and more from the heartless, if not evil, Republican Party.

Anyway, there’s a lot to “unpack” (as snobs like to say) in Jeffries’ explanation, and most of it was idiotic.

First, the Republican Party has never threatened to “eradicate” or degrade Social Security, which should be viewed as such Safety net and not the cornerstone of retirement income. Second, health care shouldn’t be a privilege, of course, but neither should it be funded by taxpayers for people who are perfectly capable of paying for it themselves. If not, take a look Medicaid. Third, when it comes to “well-paying jobs,” people should be paid based on the relative value they provide to a company or other entity.

Let’s be truthful, shall we?

A janitor, for example, who I don’t disparage, doesn’t provide the value that a CEO provides to a successful company. Yes, these are extreme comparisons, but the point is valid – on both the wage and income scales. Fourth and finally, “reproductive health care choices” and on-demand abortions, even with a fit baby up to the time of birth, are not mutually exclusive.

The conclusion

To reiterate, Messrs. Jeffries and Colbert: Republicans are far from believing that not all Americans should do this Access for health care. What many, including a significant percentage of the public, oppose is socialism, including the idea that taxpayers should fund universal health care for all, just as they oppose paying the contractual student loan debts of those who utilize the money and promise it by law have to pay it back.

You see, opposing the left’s beloved massive wealth redistribution is anathema to conservatives and hard-working Americans, tens of millions of whom have struggled to make ends meet during the disastrous four years of the Biden presidency.

Period.
