The man pictured above is the current Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking military officer and, probably more importantly, the person who has the ear of the President of the United States on military matters. Do you know his name?
This is General CQ Brown. If President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, is confirmed, he will be among those asked to vacate their desks in January, and that’s angering some people.
Before I get to that, here are a few reminders of why Brown has to go:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs: Only a matter of time before NATO military advisors arrive in Ukraine
The chairman of the Joint Chiefs knew Austin was hospitalized and did not tell the White House or the service chiefs
Do you remember back in January when our country’s current Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, was in contact with the chain of command for almost 72 hours? If you need a refresher on General Brown’s role in this, read Streiff’s article above. As I wrote in a follow-up story, no one was ever punished or fired for this debacle.
One of the critics of Pete Hegseth’s plans to let sunlight into the obscure corners of our currently awake military ranks is Republican Don Bacon of Nebraska. During an interview With NewsNation’s Chris Stirewalt on “The Hill Sunday,” the congressman initially admitted that he agreed with 90 percent of Hegseth’s statements.
“I think I agree 90 percent with what he has to say. However, there is one thing I would like to reject,” Bacon said, noting Hegseth’s idea for generals
After being prompted by Stirewalt’s question to rev the engines on “character,” Bacon offered a bizarre list of “flaws” he said senators should consider, including the fact that Hegseth has been divorced multiple times. Add this to the ugly anti-Christian slanders the left has already tried:
Former Biden WH adviser strongly warns Democrats and media about fresh insults against Pete Hegseth
HOT TAKES: AP tries ‘stunning’ anti-Catholic attack on Pete Hegseth, and people don’t want it
However, when he addressed the candidate’s comments about firing woke generals, things got even worse, as MP Bacon refused to lay the blame on him, seemingly unaware of how long this disease of diversity, justice and Inclusion (DEI) has already permeated our culture and institutions, including the military.
He said:
“[Hegseth’s] I wanted to go after generals for too much DEI. There was also Lt. Gen. Donahue, who led our forces out of Afghanistan.
I just want to warn people about this. Our generals and military respond to civilian control.
Essentially, Bacon claims that we should lay this at the feet of President Biden, Vice President Harris, and DefSec Austin—and that President Trump would issue fresh orders to end this practice.
There is another problem with the criticism of Hegseth. One of the large headlines on Sunday’s broadcasts was the release of a CBS News/YouGov poll that found Americans give the Trump-47 transition high marks, including regarding the president-elect’s Cabinet choices.
Trump’s current selection of agency heads and cabinet members is overwhelmingly viewed by Trump voters as a good choice.
His tips are viewed positively by Americans who have heard enough about them. (Many haven’t heard enough yet.) https://t.co/4kyn1u2wy4 pic.twitter.com/qSsmDxnoUa

This week on “Face The Nation,” in the miniature clip below, Senator Rand Paul simply reminded everyone why Hegseth will kick out the woke generals and others like General Brown, as some fear. Note the satisfying weariness in Paul’s voice as he is forced to respond to yet another baseless, archaic media defense of DEI. Listen to him rightly defend promotion on merit, as future Defense Minister Hegseth will do.
