Infamous Bronx mouthpiece, former bartender Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), is a real piece of work, to say the least.
As a member of the equally infamous Squad, that group of left-wing extremist ideologues, her personal politics lie somewhere to the left of Rosa Luxemburg. She’s raucous, she’s shrill, and the most unsafe place in the District of Columbia is any floor between her and a camera. She won her primary in 2018 largely because of her willingness to burn shoe leather and a flair for self-promotion.
Now some Democrats are warning us not to exclude AOC for a while 2028 presidential election.
A former Trump Treasury official warned the Republican Party on Friday not to “underestimate” the lawmaker. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (DN.Y.), citing her accessibility to voters via social media and the congresswoman’s “grassroots support.”
“She was an early adopter of social media…so she connects directly with voters,” Monica Crowley, a former public affairs official at the Treasury Department during the first Trump administration, Lisa Boothe said Friday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”
“However, just a warning to Republicans, to my party: Do not underestimate AOC. She’s young, she’s vibrant, she’s attractive,” Crowley added.
Look, no one has ever gone broke betting against the recklessness of the American electorate. I mean, just four years ago, the American people supposedly elected a deranged senior man who had been hiding in his basement throughout the campaign and whose mental and physical decline had become truly troubling in the last year of his term.
But AOC as a presidential candidate? I do not believe that.

Report: ‘Lost and rudderless’ Democrats eye AOC as 2028 presidential candidate
Here’s why.
First, their politics. AOC is very vocal, her rhetoric best compared to the distinctive sound of the creature that serves as a symbol for her political party. So it has a long, documented list of political stances, and far-left candidates have never done well in presidential elections. From Fritz Mondale to Kamala Harris: Whenever the Democrats have nominated from the far left, they lose.
Second, their behavior. She is by no means a sensible person. Her public appearances are largely characterized by anger. She exchanges envy and indignation, and even that is rarely a convincing message.
Third, their likely opponent. A wise decision at this (very early) stage would suggest that if AOC somehow gets the nomination, she would face JD Vance, a polished, sleek talker, a man with really broad appeal – and really forceful convictions. If JD Vance decides not to run for some reason, the next likely candidate would be Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, about whom the same could be said.
“I think she’s wrong about everything, but she has real grassroots support. And all of the energy and activism of the Democratic Party remains with the revolutionary left of which it is a part,” she said.
With all due respect to Monica Crowley, I think she seriously overestimates the extent of AOC’s appeal. Yes, she has grassroots support — in the Bronx, in a district that would elect a coconut to the House of Representatives if someone painted a “D” on it. The energy and activism of the Democratic Party may be on the side of the revolutionary left, but the Democratic Party has just suffered a major electoral defeat as a result.
If Democrats fell into the trap of nominating AOC, the most likely scenario they would face would be another election defeat. So maybe we should encourage them to do just that!
