Heartbreak at CNN as Scott Jennings embarrasses panel about Biden Justice Department and lies about Hunter pardon

As the fallout from Joe Biden’s “full and unconditional” pardon of his son, convicted felon Hunter Biden, continues, the president’s apologists in the mainstream media and on the left continue to gloss over the lies he has repeatedly told about how he would respect the rule of law and not do what he did on Sunday night.

For example, RedState previously reported that the press relied heavily on the condolence card as it referenced the Biden family, ABC News reported journalist lovingly explain that Biden protected “his only living son.” Others calculatedly used words like “repentance” and “turnaround” instead of the better choice of words to describe his flip-flop: He lied.

Over at CNN, however, Republican strategist/commentator Scott Jennings was having none of it.

Jennings was in the middle of criticizing Democratic political consultant Karen Finney, who, incredibly, claimed that Joe Biden never lied about his son’s pardon. On Monday evening, he accepted the opportunity again and joined his fellow panelists in knots about the false claim that Hunter Biden’s prosecution was politically motivated and about an NBC News report that said Biden and senior advisers “coordinated the lie about a pardon for Hunter Biden” for months:

SCOTT JENNINGS, CNN SENIOR POLITICAL COMMENTATOR: And not only that today, but NBC News reported that the president and his top aides met this summer and decided two things: that they would keep this option open and publicly maintain that they Hunter Biden would not be pardoned by statements from Joe Biden and statements from the White House Press Secretary. They had a meeting, they coordinated the lie, I guess for political reasons, and now that he’s leaving office he’s going back on what he told the American people. This doesn’t just change your mind. This simply accomplishes what you’ve always intended.

No Republican is shocked that he’s doing this. What shocks me is the duplicity of the President of the United States and his top aides who came together, invented this lie and stuck to it all along. We all knew it was ridiculous, and now the American people are seeing what a disgrace he really is.

LEIGH MCGOWAN, SOCIAL MEDIA host and content creator, POLITICSGIRL: I find it incredibly rewarding when you say that people got together, were duplicitous, and made up a lie.

JENNINGS: NBC News said it.

MCGOWAN: I say they made up a lie because, frankly, what the other side has been saying for years, that you ran for president, was multiple lies. I mean, if Eric Holder had put it correctly, he would have said that if Hunter’s name was Joe Smith, this case would probably never have gone to trial, right, that it was always a political witch hunt, and it was always –

PHILLIP: But wasn’t it – in Scott’s sense, wasn’t it a lie? I mean, you can defend it, but wasn’t it a lie that he wouldn’t pardon his son?

MCGOWAN: No. I think circumstances have changed. I think that a president is now coming into office who is talking about firing squads, who is talking about chasing people around the country and making sure that anyone who is his enemy is punished.

Watch below, where Jennings also addresses the Biden DOJ’s “selective prosecutions” – and following is a bonus clip of a classic Jennings expression on the firing squad comment:

If you’re a GOP commentator and you can get the majority of people on a CNN panel, including the moderator, to essentially agree with you, you know you’re doing something right.
