“My job here is done.” Lara Trump, President-elect Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, can rightly make that claim after successfully running for co-chair of the Republican National Committee.

After former chairwoman Ronna McDaniel resigned in early 2024, Lara joined forces with Michael Whatley as co-chair of the RNC for the first time. The two were chosen to fill the vacant position in March and notable changes immediately occurred.

On Sunday evening, Trump announced that she was moving on to the next chapter.

Serves as @GOP It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to serve as co-chair during the most consequential election in American history. At the RNC we had three clear goals:

1) beat all fundraising records

2) build the largest army of lawyers and election observers to ensure the integrity of the elections and,

3) Millions of Americans and low-interest voters vote in early voting.

We achieved all three.

The task I came to do is now complete and I intend to formally resign from the RNC at our next meeting.

Lara Trump’s announcement followed that of her father-in-law Confirmation On Thursday, he said he had asked Whatley to stay on as RNC chairman.

What’s next for Lara?

There are intense speculation that she will be appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to fill the Senate seat being vacated by Marco Rubio (R) as he ascends to Secretary of State in the modern administration.

There is also the possibility that she could be recruited for an advisory role in the administration. Whatever Lara Trump’s next steps, she deserves credit (along with Whatley) for achieving the three state goals and helping to deliver a victory for President-elect Trump and a Republican-majority Senate and House .
