When Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton speaks, people listen. Whether those “listeners” are Republicans, Democrats or members of the media, Cotton’s words carry weight.

That’s not to say that “all of the above” agrees with the Arkansas senator, but she knows it that he is a no-nonsense guy who cares about the bottom line. So when Cotton posted on

In a follow-up tweet, Cotton said it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Senate would confirm all of Trump’s nominees while also incorporating a history lesson of sorts.

Of the 72 nominees for Cabinet Secretary since the Clinton transition, only two nominees have ever received NO votes from the president-elect’s party.

It should surprise no one that the Republican Senate will confirm President Trump’s nominees.

The word “determined” comes to mind.

Cotton was elected leader of the Senate Republican Conference in November, the third-highest position in the chamber. Be The bold prediction is the strongest indication yet that Republicans in Congress — at least in the Senate — are ready to get to work and hit the ground running when Trump is sworn in.

Perhaps Trump’s most controversial nominee (which is nonsense, because he is controversial) is former “Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Pete Hegseth, whom the president-elect named his defense secretary. Hegseth faced mighty opposition, including from several Republicans in Congress, most notably Iowa Senator Joni Ernst.

Trump posted his continued support for Hegseth on Truth Social Friday.

Pete Hegseth is doing very well. He will be a fantastic, energetic Secretary of Defense. Pete is a WINNER and there’s nothing you can do about that!!!”

Trump also told NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview taped Friday that he believes Hegseth will be confirmed and that he still has confidence in him.

Among other Trump nominees, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for secretary of Health and Human Services, Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence and Kash Patel for director of the FBI also faced opposition.

It’s also worth noting that former Florida Republican congressman Matt Gaetz “voluntarily withdrew” after Trump announced his candidacy for U.S. attorney general after several Republican senators indicated they would not support his confirmation.

Still, now that the Gaetz dust has settled, I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that Cotton will be right.
