Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) fell over Medical personnel were quickly called in during a Senate luncheon on Tuesday. Although Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) said McConnell was “doing fine,” he reportedly had a cut on his face and needed a wheelchair.
It is the latest in a series of health problems for the 82-year-old, who suffered a strange “chill” episode in August 2023 after appearing to have no idea where he was in July of that year.

The Republican from Kentucky had already announced his resignation from his leadership post:
McConnell was the most senior GOP Leader in the history of the Senate with a term of around 18 years.
But his years-long feud with Trump put him at odds with many in the Republican Party who wanted a MAGA leader for the president-elect’s second term.
Earlier this year, he shocked his colleagues by announcing he was stepping down from the leadership role.
It’s not the first time he’s fallen:
McConnell fell several times in the weeks before he froze for 20 seconds at the Capitol in July 2023 and had to enlist the lend a hand of his colleagues.
He had undergone a “face transplant” when he stepped off a plane at Reagan Airport in Washington, triggering a series of incidents that raised concerns about his health.
McConnell joked about his worrisome pause and insisted he was “fine,” but his office had not confirmed what caused the incident.
In addition to the plane accident, McConnell fell two other times in 2023, one of which resulted in a concussion.
There was also widespread speculation as to whether he was neurologically affected by the spills.
South Dakota Senator John Thune has already been tapped to take over McConell’s leadership role:
Last month, 63-year-old Senator John Thune was elected to replace McConnell and take office Donald Trump‘s ambitious agenda with a modern GOP majority.
Thune, South Dakota’s leadership includes Assistant Majority Leader John Barrasso, Wyoming, Conference Chair Tom Cotton, Arkansas, Policy Committee Chair Shelly Moore Capito, West Virginia, and Conference Vice Chair James Lankford, Oklahoma .
