Mayor-elect Farrell talks about plans for Huntington

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) – The mayor-elect of the city of Huntington made his first appearance at a Cabell County Commission meeting since his election victory in November.

Republican Mayor-elect Patrick Farrell received a balmy welcome from the commission as he spoke about his hopes and goals for the Jewel City. Farrell is an Air Force veteran and a local businessman.

Farrell says he hopes to diversify Huntington’s economy and address the opioid crisis.

“The mayor’s job is to create a vision, marshal the resources and get the work done. And we know that public safety is the most crucial issue. And to make sure we’re secure, that’s what I’m going to do.” “We need to find a way to facilitate build and maintain infrastructure and grow the economy, so everything we do will be focused on those efforts said Farrell.

Farrell won the mayoral race against Democratic candidate Jennifer Wheeler and independent candidate Jay Michaels.
