WASHINGTON – Republicans in the House of Representatives have have appointed their committee chairs for 2025, with most lawmakers returning to office.
The committee chairs will play a critical role in advancing President-elect Donald Trump’s ambitious legislative agenda as part of a Republican trifecta in the House, Senate and White House.
There are several modern committee chairs. The list of modern and returning chairmen released Thursday does not include any women.
Michigan Representative Tim Walberg will serve as chairman House Committee on Education and the Workforcefollowing Representative Virginia Foxx of North Carolina.
Kentucky Rep. Brett Guthrie will serve as chairman House Committee on Energy and CommerceSuccessor to Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
Arkansas Rep. French Hill will preside House Committee on Financial Servicestakes over from North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry.
Florida Rep. Brian Mast will take the lead House Foreign Affairs CommitteeSuccessor to Texas Rep. Michael McCaul.
Texas Rep. Brian Babin will preside House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, He replaces Oklahoma Rep. Frank Lucas.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said in a statement Thursday that with the Republican trifecta looming, “it is imperative that we are able to efficiently and thoughtfully implement President Trump’s agenda so that we can deliver to our nation quickly can give greatness again”.
“From securing our southern border to unlocking American energy, fighting to reduce Bidenflation and restoring the safety of our communities, our committee chairs are ready to get to work to fulfill the mission of the American people and make America… “Implementing President Trump’s first agenda,” the Louisiana Republican added.
Committee chairs who continue in their leadership roles include:
agriculture: Rep. Glenn Thompson of Pennsylvania
Medium: Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma
armed forces: Rep. Mike Rogers of Alabama
Budget: Rep. Jodey Arrington of Texas
Homeland Security: Rep. Mark Green of Tennessee
Justice: Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio
Natural resources: Rep. Bruce Westerman of Arkansas
Oversight and Accountability: Rep. James Comer of Kentucky
Small business: Rep. Roger Williams of Texas
Transport and infrastructure: Rep. Sam Graves of Missouri
Veterans Affairs: Rep. Mike Bost of Illinois
Ways and means: Rep. Jason Smith of Missouri
