The Clark County Fire Department reported a call at approximately 8:40 a.m. PST on Wednesday about a vehicle fire in the valet parking area in front of the Trump Hotel on Fashion Show Drive, a a department spokesperson told Huff Post.

Police confirmed the fire was extinguished within two hours and advised the public to avoid the area.

Videos posted online showed bulky smoke rising in front of the hotel. Witnesses reported hearing a deafening noise. One said it sounded like “a dumpster being dropped and dragged for several seconds.” Another video showed people leaving the building through a back exit.

According to the latest reports, the driver of the vehicle was killed and several others were injured. Earlier footage circulating online showed emergency services at the scene, including several police vehicles and at least two ambulances.

According to Huff Post, while older Tesla models like the Model S have been known to catch fire under certain conditions, it is unlikely that the Cybertruck, which has been recalled several times since its debut in slow 2023, has a similar defect.

Earlier Wednesday, Eric Trump posted about the event on social media, writing:

We sincerely thank the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their quick response and professionalism. @TrumpLasVegas
