If anyone needs another example to remind us that the media is, at its core, unsalvageable, here it is. As we wrote earlier this week, swearing-in ceremonies for members of the House and Senate took place ahead of the opening of the new Congress.
Misadventures in Congress:
Kamala Harris botches the Pledge of Allegiance and JD Vance trolls during the Senate swearing-in
Oops: What the hell did Hakeem Jeffries just say after the speaker vote?
The reliably left-leaning paper The Arizona Republic decided to include an insult that disrespected a grieving family in its coverage of the swearing-in of new Republican U.S. Rep. Abe Hamadeh (AZ), declaring that he had placed his hand on “unconventional documents.” have.
As X user Jeremiah Cota wrote in his post, it’s completely unreal that anyone working in journalism would in any way condone this:
His contribution reads:
Good morning.👋
The Arizona Republic @azcentral calls the Bible sworn by Congressman Hamadeh @AbrahamHamadeh an “unconventional document.”
The unreal Bible is now considered an “unconventional document” by the writers of the Arizona Republic.
As if that wasn’t disrespectful enough to the newspaper’s readers, who happen to be Christians, it gets worse.
The “unconventional documents” were actually the family Bible of the relatives of Kayla Mueller, an Arizona humanitarian who was murdered by ISIS in 2015 – something the Republic appears to be quick to dismiss as an unspeakable issue.
Here is a little more about what Kayla has been through in her brief life:
Mueller, a humanitarian worker from Arizona, was kidnapped by terrorists in 2013 as she left a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Aleppo, Syria. She was held hostage for 18 months and was probably repeatedly tortured and raped by ISIS fighters – ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Mueller was killed in February 2015.
Hamadeh explained told Fox News Digital exactly why he asked for the honor of using the Muellers’ Bible at his ceremony – Kayla’s inspiring, “unwavering faith” in God despite her dire circumstances:
As I take the oath of office, I am deeply honored to fulfill my promise to the Muellers and the American people by being sworn into Congress using Kayla’s family Bible. It is a testament to their unwavering belief in lithe over darkness and freedom over oppression.
He also praised the family’s courage in ensuring that Americans remember their loved one, speaking at the 2020 Republican National Convention (RNC) and recalling their “powerful” letter when she was kidnapped by the terrorist group:
Hamadeh, in his comments to Fox Digital, cited the Muellers’ 2020 RNC address and reflected on how the teenage woman’s mother read a letter her daughter wrote while incarcerated that said, “I became light in the darkness shown and I learned that even in prison you can be free.
“What a powerful thing to write in the face of such horror. Kayla’s unwavering faith and inner strength reflected the values instilled by her remarkable parents,” Hamadeh said.

It cannot be emphasized enough, and frankly it is not enough to call scoundrels like the Republic despicable. She and other left-wing mouthpieces, similar to their dealings with former President Donald Trump during his campaign, tried everything to vilify Hamadeh as a threat to democracy because he is MAGA, and now this. Completely shameless.
Finally, you may have noticed that its author also attacked former Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ). strange Details of her ceremony upon joining the Senate. The left is seething with hatred for anyone who thinks differently than them – and that just goes to show that Republicans and President Trump’s overwhelming majority haven’t budged an inch in last November’s election.
