Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass finally returned from her taxpayer-funded trip to Africa on Wednesday, and she’s been feeling the heat ever since. She set out for the inexplicable photo op as fires were already breaking out near her town, leaving a leadership gap at a crucial time.
Since his return to America, Bass has faced numerous questions Why She was in Ghana at all. Remember, this was an “official” trip paid for by the taxpayer. Why does the mayor of California’s largest city have to be part of a delegation to a third world African country? Are we supposed to believe that there is a major economic interest at play? And if it was just a photo op, which is almost certainly the real reason, doesn’t that make things worse?
While pondering these questions, I came across an old social media post from Bass, which RedState first reported on in the early hours of Thursday morning.
SEE: Karen Bass’ week gets even worse after disastrous Wildfire Presser performance
In it, she criticizes Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for escorting his daughters to Cancun during an ice storm that hit Texas in 2021.
Oh boy. Here’s Karen Bass going after Ted Cruz, who was not a state official and had no role in the response to the 2021 Texas ice storm.

We’ll get back to the comparison in a moment, but for context, this isn’t just a topic of conversation in 2021. Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-USVI) brought it up during a panel discussion that also included Scott Jennings, claiming that that what Cruz did was A direct contradicting Bass’ actions.
Plaskett recently sparked controversy when she went on a deranged rant about colonization while demanding that she be allowed to do so illegal Voting during the roll call to elect a Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Let’s talk about it. Whatever you think about it optics When Cruz escorted his daughters to Cancun during a major ice storm, he was not a state or local official. He had no real role in the response other than offering his thoughts and prayers. Although it was not advisable to leave with his family, even if it was only for 24 hours, he did not abandon his duties.
In contrast, Karen Bass is the mayor of Los Angeles. She is the one the most She had direct authority on the ground over the response, and instead of being there when things escalated, she set taxpayers’ money on fire in Africa for no justifiable reason while her city went up in flames. She did She abandoned her duties and had no good answers when she finally made it back across the border.
Plaskett, a dishonest, conniving hacker (she was once a “Republican”), can pretend that these are equivalent situations, but they are not. They are not nearly the same thing, even if both have negative connotations. I’d like to see the full clip of the exchange above because I’d hope Jennings gets a handle on her silly arguments.
Back to Bass: It is worth remembering that she was on President Joe Biden’s shortlist to be Vice President.
Reminder that Karen Bass was vetted and was on Biden’s tiny list for vice president.

What possible qualifications would a retarded congressman have to be second in line to the presidency? She checked the intersectional boxes that Biden promised to address, and that was good enough, in my opinion. Of course, thinking about qualifications and skills since Kamala Harris became vice president is probably pointless.
Bass has made a robust case here and is likely to lose her re-election in November. This person cannot be relied upon for competent leadership, and that is something Los Angeles desperately needs right now. No amount of distraction from Ted Cruz will change that.
