As wildfires continue to rage in California, there’s a lot of blame to go around.
Republicans blame decades of disastrous Democratic rule, which includes indigent, misguided and ideologically motivated planning, stemming in part from an obsession with DEI and climate alarmism.
Democrats, in turn, accuse Republicans of, among other things, not taking the threat of so-called climate change more seriously.
But while one would expect these kinds of debates to take place amid the devastation, one would think that victim blaming would be taboo.

However, this was not the case for compassionate, loving and inclusive Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who took to the Twitter/X machine on Thursday afternoon to deliver a inexpensive vaccination to one of the wildfire victims:
Corporations got us into this mess, but even they can’t escape the devastating reality of climate change. pic.twitter.com/iKVAoAN7rS

When I saw this, my first thought was that it was one of the most classless things I had ever seen a congressman do, and I wasn’t the only one:
Blaming McDonalds for the Los Angeles fire is absolutely psychotic
And it’s even more psychotic to celebrate the destruction https://t.co/sneeCElKTT

Yes, because the corporations provided jobs to all these homeowners. And some of these houses were built by corporations and corporations provided a lot of building materials. What an idiotic post. https://t.co/Il7EcWDiug

She’s right. McDonald’s should close every restaurant and move all jobs out of California. https://t.co/ncw22m7rUn

No, you and all the Democratic-led state officials who refuse to log forests, capture mountain water, and incarcerate homeless arsonists got us into this mess. Distraction and redirection of blame won’t work this time because this time you burned down your friends’ houses.

Not to mention the fact that she knows nothing about this particular McDonald’s and the specifics of its situation:
I’m sure the employees at this particular McDonald’s (who also probably lost everything) appreciate this tweet from a congressman. https://t.co/ciGXNiWOva

On a related note, I’m pretty sure individual McDonald’s locations and the company itself don’t have the power that Jayapal expects them to have:
I wasn’t aware that McDonalds didn’t restock the storage containers
And cut the LAFD budget by $17 million
How dare they https://t.co/BSB0cinIJB– Jim Hanson (@JimHansonDC) January 9, 2025
At this point, the woke LAFD, Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom aren’t running McDonald’s either, last I checked.
Some final thoughts:
Your party has destroyed our ability to manage forest and water resources. They drained water reserves “for the environment.” They allow forests to accumulate waste “for the environment.” Maybe you’ll start putting citizens first instead of your delusionshttps://t.co/jCkqGo2vWe

Completely agree.
