While President-elect Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis have had more than a few contentious conversations during the 2024 Republican primary, they now appear to be largely on the same page.
That reality couldn’t have been more obvious from DeSantis on Thursday night completely floored a reporter for suggesting that Trump’s criticism of embattled California Gov. Gavin Newsom over the state’s devastating wildfires was inappropriate.
“He is the one [sic] Blame it,” Trump said posted told Truth Media on Wednesday, referring to Newsom as “Governor Gavin Newscum.”
Gov. Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration presented to him, which would have allowed millions of gallons of water daily from excessive rain and snowmelt from the north to flow into many parts of California, including areas where fires are currently burning a nothing brief of apocalyptic Way.
He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt by giving it less water (that didn’t work!), but he didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow lovely, tidy, fresh water to FLOW into CALIFORNIA! He is to blame for this. In addition, there is no water for hydrants and no firefighting aircraft. A true disaster!
DeSantis and all the other Republican governors had just finished dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago when a heated exchange with the reporter ensued — and it was a sight to behold.

After the reporter appeared to ask another governor whether it was appropriate for Trump to criticize Newsom as the deadly fires continued to rage, DeSantis was blocked and invited to return fire.
Is it appropriate that people in your industry try to create divisions and create narratives every time things like this happen? Well, you’re not that interested because Newsom is a D. If Newsom were a Republican you would try… you would nail him to the wall for what they are doing there.
Are there any doubts? I mean, imagine, for example, the reaction of the lapdog media if Donald Trump Jr. had committed a hundredth of the crimes committed by Hunter Biden. ‘Nuff said.
Refer to the 2021 Surfside condo collapse in Florida. DeSantis continued to criticize the left-wing media: “I think your track record of politicizing these things is very, very bad.”
The no-nonsense governor also took aim at embattled Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and some members of the media for refusing to criticize her pathetic response to the wildfires.
They should have been there preparing and doing this and yet I don’t see much excitement being brought into play [toward her]. I would like to see balance in how this is accomplished. You can criticize the president-elect, but you also have to hold these other people accountable, and I didn’t see that.
Chances are, neither DeSantis nor the rest of us will ever see the so-called “mainstream media” criticize Democratic leaders and their policies — at least not nearly as much as they criticized Trump and Republican policies until denounce weariness.
