Every now and then, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) provides a timely reminder of why the Republican Party is so lucky to have him, and Tuesday was one of those glorious days.
As RedState previously reported, President Joe Biden signed a command He hopes to come across as a tough guy on border policy in the eyes of frustrated voters who have given him low marks for his handling of the self-inflicted crisis over the last three and a half years of his presidency.
But as we also reported, the order has loopholes (exemptions) gigantic enough to “drive a truck through.” This means – as expected – that the executive action taken by Biden will have little to no impact on the illegal immigrants currently streaming through. And that is undoubtedly exactly what he and members of his administration wanted.

For Kennedy, it was all just too much. During a Republican press conference in the Senate, he sharply attacked Biden in response to his announcement:
“Okay, I want you to listen. Here’s the thing: President Biden is in political trouble. He’s polling at a level similar to yeast infections. One reason is that he caved to the nutcase wing of his party and dismantled the southern border.”
Now, five months before an election, he needs to give the impression that he’s ready to do something about it, hence this executive order. And he expects you to report on this revelation that he’s had, to take what the White House tells you, balance it on your nose like trained seals, and report it uncritically.
For three years, we have watched President Biden push on a door that clearly says “pull.” He has mismanaged Congress, COVID, the national debt, the economy, inflation, crime, Afghanistan, Iran, the war in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and now, of course, the border.
And every time I thought the president had hit rock bottom, he’s managed to find a shovel and keep digging. Hence this executive order. And I think that’s what the American people are seeing.
The first question I would ask President Biden would be, “It’s a little late, isn’t it, Mr. President?” It’s a little delayed.
You can’t let that cat back down. The president’s border policy has allowed eight million people to come into our country illegally. Anyone trying to come into our country legally today is a fool, a fool. All you have to do is show up at the southern border.
For three years, President Biden has told us there is no crisis at the southern border, for reasons he laid out clearly on the teleprompter. And his plan to deal with the crisis at the border was to pretend there was no crisis at the border. Some of you reported that, some of you didn’t.
Well, when the American people realized that – because they may be poorer under President Biden, but they are not stupid – the Biden administration changed its strategy. They then said, “We know there is a crisis at the border, but we have no authority to fix it.” That didn’t work either, because the American people are not stupid to the core.”
“This is one of the most cynical things I have ever seen a politician try five months before an election,” Kennedy also said specified“It’s offensive, it’s cheap, it’s despicable – the American people see that, and I hope you see that too.”

During the same press conference, Senator Joni Ernst, on her way off the stage, in a hilarious but timely moment on the sizzling mic, said to Kennedy, “The bottom line is, never trust a man whose uncle was eaten by cannibals.”
Truer words and so on.
