Washington (AP) – Linda McMahon is faced with an unusual test on Thursday when she requested the Senate to have an agency that the president wants to destroy of her.

If President Donald Trump has his way, his choice for educational secretary would be the last in the role. The Republican President promised to close the agency and said that he was infiltrated by “radicals, zealers and Marxists”.

A plan that is taken into account by the White House would instruct the education secretary to reduce the department as much as possible while he asks the congress to completely abolish it.

At a Press Conference of the White House last week, Trump said that he wanted McMahon “get out of a job”.

Trump has not yet signed a order to switch off the department, and some of McMahon’s advisors urged to delay them until after their hearing. However, it is expected that it is the central theme of the hearing on Thursday before the Senate Committee for Health, Education, Work and Pensions.

The Democrats have prepared to grill McMahon for their willingness to carry out Trump’s plan, which opponents say that they would undermine public education. Trump did not say whether he would maintain the agency’s core work, send the billions of dollars to schools a year, manage a switch -off credit portfolio of 1.6 trillion dollars and forced civil rights in education.

In a letter to McMahon this week, Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Andy Kim said that she was asked whether she would support Trump’s plan and what measures she would take to carry him out. It asks McMahon for obligations to maintain the student loan and the department’s civil rights office, including the Democrats.

McMahon is a long -time Trump allied, who became a CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment Billiarigär. She left the wrestling empire in 2009 to start a political career that ran twice twice for the US Senate in Connecticut. McMahon gave Trump’s campaigns millions and selected them during his first term to lead the compact business administration.

McMahon has a more circumscribed educational balance than most earlier secretaries. She spent a year in the Connecticut Board of Education and is a long -time trustee at the Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. McMahon has required extended school selection programs as well as a focus on apprenticeships and alternatives to conventional university degrees.

At a hearing from 2009 to work in the Education Board of Connecticut, McMahon said that she had to become a teacher after the college, but instead found work in a law firm before building her husband Vince WWE.

The National Education Association – the largest teacher union in the country – and interest groups, which demand more protection of the titles for victims of sexual assault, are the senators who reject McMahon.

The Republicans praise their business sense and say that she is a good choice to change the course of American education. Senator Bill Cassidy, Chairman of the Health and Education Committee, met McMahon in January and said that she was “ready to return the power to the parents and to reform an educational department that has lost the conspiracy”.
