Washington (Nexstar)-Rep. Steven Horsford (D-Nev.) Plans to reintroduce the law on top income protection and support (tips). Legislation would end income tax to tips and remove the Unterminim wage of USD 2.13 per hour.
“In many places in this country, employers can only pay 2.13 US dollars an hour,” said Rep. Horsford. “This is literally shameful and we have the nerve to tax your tips.”
Rep. Horsford was accompanied on Thursday by other democratic legislators and by employees and members of the non -profit organization outside the Capitol.
President Donald Trump has promised to eliminate taxes for tips, and signaled this to the allies in the congress as a priority, but has given only a few details about what the guideline would look like.
However, Rep. Horsford accused Trump’s “concept”, the opulent, not tilting workers benefited.
“Trump’s concept would consolidate a gap that enables the rich to give their children their assets and to describe the legacy as a” tip “. That is a rip -off, ”said Horsford.
Horsford was accompanied by several other democratic legislators who represented Nevada, including Rep. Susie Lee (D-Nev.), Who asked the Republican legislators to support the legislation.
“I ask my Republicans to sign for this bill if they are really serious to work for millions of working families across the country who have difficulty making ends meet,” said Lee.
Nevada has the highest concentration of top workers through the nation. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there are 2.24 million restaurants all over the country, with tips making a gigantic percentage of their income.
“Two thirds of the top workers don’t even earn enough to pay the federal tax income tax,” said a President of Fair -Lohn President Saru Jayaraman. “What we need is an increase and we need it now.”
According to the federal law, only 2.13 US dollars per hour per hour per hour per hour can be paid in several states. Rep. Horsford hopes to change that.
