Washington (Nexstar) – the Wrestling Executive, Education provider, former administrator of the compact business administration, Linda McMahon, faced President Donald Trump on Thursday in her first hearing.
McMahon and her husband Vince are the best known for the construction of WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment.
In her hearing on Thursday, McMahon said that she supported school vouchers, vocational training and charter schools. She said that school selection improves all schools, including public schools due to the competition.
President Trump, also a supporter for school selection, promised to create financing preferences for states, implement universal school vouchers. They give families money to pay private schools.
Democrats say that the program only helps the luxurious.
“Most families in America have less than $ 40-50-50,000 a year to send their children to private schools,” said Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
McMahon also spoke to the calls from President Trump to reduce the Ministry of Education and to work out of the job.
“We should concentrate on raising our children and concentrating them at the local level,” said McMahon.
Former Education Minister Arne Duncan visited Capitol Hill on Thursday to reject the Ministry of Education against McMahon’s nomination and President Trump’s move. Duncan said most education was financed on site and the department finances a fraction.
“It finances the most endangered students in our nation, children with special needs,” said Duncan.
Duncan said that federal rules facilitate to prevent discrimination. He pointed out the integration of schools and laws to clarify children with disabilities.
McMahon said that states are better suited for managing educational financing. She will need support from a Senate with a gaunt republican majority to earn confirmation.
