Sacramento, California (AP) -The California legislators will not change state guidelines that enable transgender children and teenagers to play in sports teams who are in line with their gender identities in the middle of heated national debates on the participation of trans youth in athletics.

Democratic legislators in the Committee on Art, Entertainment, Sport and Tourism of the State Assembly rejected two suggestions from the Republican legislator on Tuesday after hours of passionate debates and comments.

The California Interscholastic Federation, the management committee for the high school sport, would have obliged a legislative to be legally adopted to say goodbye to the students whose gender was assigned male at birth, from participating in a sports sports team of the girls. The other would have a law from 2013, which enables the students to take part in sexual school programs, including sports teams, and bathrooms and other facilities that match their gender identity. It would have applied to K-12 and college students.

The hearing found his political allies anger one day after the transgender day of visibility and weeks after the democratic governor Gavin Newsom when he suggested in his podcast that transgender athletes is unfair to take part in girls’ sports.

The Democratic Assembly, Chris Ward, the chairman of the committee, who heads the legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus, said that the law was part of a wider attack on the rights of the transgender youth. He said that they could also be invasive cisgenden girls who could be asked to prove their gender.

“I don’t think someone should be women and girls about gender polking,” said Ward.

But the Republican meeting members Bill Essayli, who wrote the legislative proposal for the 2013 law, said the proposal was for fairness.

“Biology is important,” he said. “Sport is one of the places where this reality is most obvious.”

Taylor Starling, an athlete in Riverside who says that a trans runner took her place in the Varsity Cross Country team from her high school, said a ban would aid to be treated fairly.

“Why is girls said that we have to sit down and be calm while boys feel unfairly in life?” she said.

But LGBTQ+ supporters and parents of transgender children asked the legislators to support trans children -in sports and beyond.

Cati Johnson, a parent of a transgender girl in the middle school, said it was critical to defend the rights and the protection of trans children, e.g.

“The ban on institutions really sends the news that she is not welcome as her authentic self,” said Johnson about her daughter. “And that’s just not okay.”

Laws in the books, the transgender women and girls have at least 24 states on certain women or girls sports competitions. The judges temporarily blocked bans in Arizona, Idaho and Utah. In New Hampshire and West Virginia, students who sued these states for banned were allowed to compete. At the federal level, President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month to complete transgender athletes from participating in girls and women’s sports.

Some states have also banned gender -known care and obliges the schools to share the gender identity of the students with their parents without the consent of the students.

Essayli and other supporters of the proposals have been referred to several times on the comments from Newsom. The governor later told the Los Angeles Times that he had reported on the topic for years and captured on his comments.

“I know that a lot of people hurt. But I don’t respect them with them on the other hand,” he said.

Newsom did not require a reversal of the existing state law and does not have to weigh after the invoices’ death.

Minister of Education Linda McMahon sent a letter last week and said his comments on his podcast attracted her attention and asked her to clarify his attitude.

“Take your beliefs,” she wrote. “Be clear about the damage to the gender confusion. Protect female rooms. Do not encourage children to look for permanent medical interventions for their gender. Inform the parents.”

The US Ministry of Education also announced an investigation into the State Ministry of Education last week, through a law in which school districts obliged the ban on teachers and employees to notify parents when a student changes their gender identity at school.
