The House Republicans approved a legislation on Thursday to rename the Gulf of Mexico into the Gulf of America.

The chamber solved the legislation entitled “Golf of America Act” in a mood of 211-206 and sent them to the Senate to the Senate, where their future looks delicate. At least seven democrats would have to join all Republicans to support legislation in order to pass the upper chamber, an unlikely scenario.

At the moment, however, the Republicans are launching the house section of the measure as victory for Trump’s agenda and his mantra “America First”. In a sign of the excitement of the Republicans, spokesman Mike Johnson (R-La.) Showed a vast sign outside of his office, which was a card with the label “Golf of America”.

“Name matter,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Who sponsored legislation on the house floor on Thursday. “Parents take a lot of time when they think about what they should call a child, that they like to be welcome in the world because they are proud and welcome their new baby in the world, and therefore they are proud of the name that they call their child.”

“And when we rename the Gulf to the Gulf of America, we are also proud of these waters,” she added. “There is an estimated half a million companies that work along the golf coast. The Golf is a great economic hub, especially for oil and gas production.”

The measure which extends over four sidesRequest all US notes – including laws, maps, regulations, documents and papers – on the waterway as a Gulf of America.

The Democrats rejected the measure in droves and argued that the adoption of the legislation was not a clever way of using the time of the house in such a latest moment.

“I am calling for a strong no against this stupid, small-minded, sycopheric law,” said Hakeem Jeffries, leader of house minority (DN.Y.), on the house floor on Thursday. “What could congress members debate over the ground in the context of this transient republican majority? Would it be laws about the economy?

“No,” he continued. “What the Republicans have decided to spend this entire legislative day is the debate about a legislative template to rename the Gulf of Mexico.”

While the legislation was widespread by Republicans, there were some frustrations among the moderate, which also focused on the largely symbolic measure if members could concentrate on other urgent affairs.

“I have heard criticism from all corners of the conference, conservative too pragmatic” Fox news. “It seems in the second year. The United States are larger and better than this.”

Bacon was the only GOP “No” voice on Thursday.

The white house supported the bill. In A Administrative policyThe Office for Management and Budget said that the administration supports the measure “strongly” and writes that it “recognizes the official renaming of the golf of America, since it continues to play a crucial role in the design of the future of the country”.
