Washington (NexStar) -Many schools and libraries in the USA made the students available to the students as part of a Biden administration directive Wi -Fi -Hotspots, but this program is now one step closer to being overturned after the Senate has voted on Thursday to cancel the rule.

The Republicans of the Senate used the Congress Examination Act to delete the initiative of the Federal Communications Commission, which financed the Wi-Fi hotspot access for students. It was a 50-38 voice.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who directed the cancellations, said in a statement that the Senate was tuned to “undo this rule and to protect American children from the many dangers, who are lurking when they surf the Internet without consent or supervision”.

Democrats leaned the move sharply.

“Republicans leave millions of students,” said Senator Ed Markay (D-Mass.), Who warned of the damage that a lack of internet access could cause.

“The study according to the study has shown that students do worse at home without access to broadband internet than their better networked classmates,” said Markay.

According to the Alliance for Excellent Education, more than 42,000 schools have benefited from the e-rate financing program, whereby 83% of the first $ 1 billion is aimed at schools with low incomes.

“It’s crazy. Just crazy,” said Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.), said the Senate reduction leader.

Rep. Russ Fulcher (R-IDAHO) introduced the resolution in the house. His office said that the Member of the Congress was “obliged to prepare this legislation in order to lift the … rule.”

The democratic leader of the house, Hakeem Jeffries, said he checked the measure.

“But conceptually I have a problem with it,” said Jeffries. “If the result restricts access to WLAN, broadband access or high-speed internet.”
