Trouble for Joe: Biden skips Ukraine peace summit in favor of a fundraiser to prevent Trump’s victory

Joe Biden experienced some final moments of confusion before saying goodbye to the G7 after two days in Italy.

As we reported, Biden “lost focus” at the G7 summit, according to sources, and was “the worst he’s ever been.” That’s saying something. He even touched Pope Francis on the head in a weird way that got everyone talking. I think it’s secure to say that’s not the normal way to greet the Pope, but that’s just how Joe Biden is. At least he didn’t seem to sniff him.

Biden left on Friday to return to Los Angeles for a glamorous fundraiser. Hunter’s children, Naomi and Maisy, and Naomi’s husband accompanied him as he boarded Air Force One.

I’m not sure what happened to Hunter’s other child, Finnegan. We saw Finnegan get on the plane to Italy with her grandfather.

But what was odd, given Joe Biden’s Ukraine obsession, was that while some of the other world leaders were headed to a peace summit on Ukraine, Biden skipped it to go fundraising and sent Kamala Harris to the summit instead. If he was all about ending the war, rather than just funneling millions to it for weapons, you’d think he’d be there. Priorities – that’s right there on display. The most essential thing for him is to stay in power.

This is likely to anger Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky, who said last month that he wanted him there and that Putin would applaud if he wasn’t there. Surprisingly, that didn’t move Biden, who normally seems to give Zelensky everything he wants.

Not only is former President Donald Trump leading in the polls, he now has to put the Biden team on edge when it comes to how much money he’s raising, especially after the verdict in his Manhattan trial. Trump is now raising more money than Biden.

He surpassed Biden’s New York event in April, when they raked in $50.5 million at a gathering of major donors at the Florida home of billionaire investor John Paulson. The former president’s campaign and the Republican National Committee announced they had raised a whopping $141 million in May, boosted by tens of millions of dollars in donations made after Trump’s Guilty verdict in his criminal trial for hush money.

This post-conviction push came after Trump and the Republican Party announced it had raised $76 million in April, far more than the $51 million raised by Biden and the Democrats for the month and reduced a fundraising lead Biden had built up early in his campaign.

While Biden may be able to win over Hollywood liberals, Trump is grabbing businessmen who have seen how bad things are under Biden, and that adds up to a lot of money. Trump has also gotten a lot of money from individual Americans who were upset about the political nature of the litigation against him, and they’re letting it out with their wallets. That’s the biggest problem Joe Biden has to worry about with this money slump, because that’s the enthusiasm gap and what will likely ultimately destroy him in the election.
