Health Minister Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed every member of a scientific committee on Monday that advises the centers for the control and prevention of diseases to apply vaccines and promised to replace them with its own picks.
Large doctors and public health groups criticized the move to suppress all 17 members of the Advisory Board Committee on immunization practices.
Kennedy, who was one of the leading activists of the nation of the nation before becoming the highest health officer of the nation, did not say who he would appoint to the committee, but said that it would be called in Atlanta in just two weeks.
Although it is usually not considered a partisan board, the bid administration had installed the entire committee.
“Without removing the current members, the current Trump administration could not have appointed a majority of the new members until 2028,” Kennedy wrote in an opinion object from Wall Street Journal. “A clean sweep is required to restore the public’s trust in vaccine science.”
Kennedy said the members of the committee had too many conflicts of interest. At the beginning of the public sessions, the members of the committee routinely give open conflicts.
Dr. Georges Benjamin, Managing Director of the American Public Health Association, called Kennedy’s Massenopper “A Coup”.
“It’s not like democracies work. It is not good for the health of the nation,” said Benjamin of Associated Press.
Benjamin said the step is raising real concerns about the question of whether future members of the committee are considered impartial. He added that Kennedy contradicts what he told the legislators and the public, and public health intends to observe Kennedy “like a falcon”.
“He breaks a promise,” said Benjamin. “He said he wouldn’t do that.”
Dr. Bruce A. Scott, President of the American Medical Association, described the committee on a trustworthy source for scientific and data -controlled advice and said Kennedy’s move, paired with falling vaccination rates across the country, will support augment an augment in vaccine diseases.
“Today’s action to remove the 17 -seated members of ACIP undermines that a transparent process that has saved countless life, trust and grow up,” said Scott in an explanation.
The Republican Senator Bill Cassidy from Louisiana, a doctor who had expressed reservations about Kennedy’s nomination, but still agreed to install him as a health secretary of the nation, said that after announcing, he spoke moments with Kennedy with Kennedy.
“Of course, the fear is that the acip with people who know nothing about vaccines will be fulfilled except for suspicion,” said Cassidy in a social media contribution. “I just spoke to secretary Kennedy, and I will continue to speak to him to make sure that this is not the case.”
The committee has been in a river state in the river since Kennedy. The first meeting this year was delayed when the US Ministry of Health and Human Services abruptly postponed its meeting in February.
During Kennedy’s confirmation, Cassidy had expressed concerns about the preservation of the committee and claimed that he had requested the assurances that Kennedy would keep the current vaccine recommendations of the committee.
Kennedy didn’t stick to it. He recently took the unusual step to change the Covid 19 recommendations without advising the consultants first.
The website with the members of the committee was deleted on Monday evening, shortly after Kennedy’s announcement.
