Charleston, WV (Wowk) – President Donald Trump announced on Saturday evening that the USA launched air strikes for three nuclear facilities in Iran, a decision that shared many people in West Virginia.
Trump said that the bombings were carried out to contain the Iran nuclear program and prevent them from maintaining a nuclear weapon, but some criticized the decision and said that the bombings were an escalation of the conflict.
Many of the Republican leaders of West Virginia showed their support for Trump’s decision on social media.
“The world is far too dangerous if Iran has nuclear weapons. I pray for our troops and @Raldonaldtrump And his steadfast leadership in these challenging times. God bless the USA and our allies Israel, “said governor Patrick Morrisey In a contribution to X.
In his own Post on XRep. Riley Moore, said: “President Trump has been clear for more than a decade: Iran cannot receive a nuclear weapon. The President’s targeted strike was the right decision. Write to God that all of our military personnel are unthreatening.
Rep. Carol Miller said on X“Iran was stubborn in its refusal to no longer enrich the uranium. We gave them every opportunity to stop and agree with the nuclear upgrade. They rejected it so that America ended its nuclear weapons program tonight. The commander -in -chief has my full support.”
In the meantime, Shelley Moore Capito said“@Potus It was always clear that Iran could not get a nuclear weapon. A nuclear Iran would destabilize the Middle East in a way that we have never seen before and lit a nuclear weapon race. The Iranian regime is responsible for the death of the Americans, the horrors of Houthi’s attacks on our Marine and Terror proxy attacks against US bases in the region. I fully support President Trump’s decisive action. “
The West Virginia Democratic Party (WVDP) released an explanation on Sunday in which the decision is obtained that the air strikes are an escalation into an already volatile conflict in the Middle East.
The chairman of WVDP, Mike Puschkin, said in the explanation: “Nobody wants to develop Iran in nuclear weapons-but the Trump government itself has sent contradictory messages about the activities of Iran. President Trump’s hand-picked director of the national intelligence, Tulsi gabbard recently said. And allied allies in order to serve a political goal and not the legitimate security needs of our nation.
The WVDP declaration states that the party’s first concern is the security of American military personnel, which is now at risk from the decision. They said the bomb attacks were a unsafe step that reflects a deep failure of diplomacy and that President Trump did not exhaust every channel for a peaceful solution.
“Futil Warring is exactly what Trump said to West Virginians against which they voted,” said Sam Petsonk, second deputy chairman of the West Virginia Democratic party. “It is essential that the president works with the congress to avoid future generations of troops and citizens in fruitless, painful violence.”
