Washington (AP) -More than 300 million Americans social security data were endangered after officials from the State Ministry of Efficiency had uploaded sensitive information to a cloud account that was not subject to the supervision of whistleblower, which was presented on Tuesday to the special practice on Tuesday.
Whistleblower Charles Borges, who has been working as a Chief Data Officer of Social Security Administration since January, said the potential sensitive information published by the risks include health diagnoses, income, bank information, family relationships and personal biographical data.
“If bad actors have access to this cloud environment, Americans may be susceptible to the widespread theft of identity, possibly lose important health and food advantages, and the government can be responsible for spending a new social security number at high costs,” said the complaint.
The complaint was submitted by the state accountability and directed to the legislators of the House and the Senate. It demands that the authorities “take appropriate supervisory measures”.
The Whistleblower report is only the latest complaint against President Donald Trump’s Doge, and the unprecedented access that Republican administration has given the huge typical data of the personal data in the entire government under the mandate for the elimination of waste, fraud and misuse. SSA sued Labor and Pensioner groups at the beginning of this year to enable Doge to access the sensitive agency data of the Americans, although a shared appeal committee has decided this month that Doge could access the information.
SSA said in an explanation that Whistleblower complaints seem to be grave about the accusations of Borges.
“SSA stores all personal data in sheltered environments in which strong protective measures are available to protect significant information. The data referred to the complaint are stored in a long-term environment that was used by SSA and turned away from the Internet. Highed career SSA officials have administrative access to this system.
Borges’ complaint states that he has announced to his supervisor that he believes that the upload was an abuse of authority, a significant threat to public health and security and possibly violate the law.
Andrea Meza, a lawyer who represents Borges, said her client published the information “from a feeling of urgency and duty to the American public”.
