Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) appeared on the show “This week” Sunday and lamely attempted to defend President Biden’s disastrous performance at the border, to the point where even moderator Martha Raddatz seemed to have had enough. Not only did Raddatz not buy Warren’s pathetic excuses, but she also pointed out that things were better under that threat to democracy, former President Donald Trump.
Raddatz got to the point:
RADDATZ: I know President Biden has been a bipartisan advocate for immigration passage, but during Biden’s term there have been more than 6.9 million apprehensions at the southern border, compared to just over two million during Donald Trump’s entire term. What did the president do wrong?
LABYRINTH: No, it’s not about what the president did wrong. Remember, on the first day after he was sworn in, President Biden asked Congress for both the necessary funding and comprehensive immigration reform. Republicans blocked, blocked, blocked, blocked. Until last fall –
RADDATZ: But Donald Trump didn’t have that either, Senator. He didn’t have that either and During his entire term in office, the figure was two million. [Emphases mine.]
Wow, a network news anchor actually stands up to a Democrat. You don’t see that often.

As we’ve reported extensively, Biden and Warren’s persistent claims that the president just needs recent legislation to solve the crisis are a lie. In his first week in office, Biden took a series of executive actions dismantling Trump’s border policies – and the results were horrific. The bill she mentioned, which was rejected by Congress, was an unmitigated disaster and would have done little to solve the problem.
But gaslighting is Warren’s specialty. They knew this was coming: It’s Donald Trump’s fault!
Donald Trump has said he will block Congress’s action because he wants more chaos at the border. He wants as much division in this country as possible. He wants to turn us against the immigrants who are here, who support this country and make it stronger. Donald Trump is doing everything he can to advance Donald Trump and undermine the United States of America. Biden is using the resources available and trying to hold our nation together and give us border security and a path to citizenship.

Warren blathered on, but you get my point: Joe Biden is never responsible for anything, and even though he’s responsible for the worst border crisis in state-of-the-art times, somehow Trump and the Republicans are to blame. That’s such a shameless narrative – one that even a liberal ABC anchor seems to have had enough of.
