Good morning and welcome to RedState’s Morning Minute – a quick look at what’s trending today and a look ahead to what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to start your day with.
BEST MORNING
Trump hater Mark Cuban is cheated for the second time in a year, posts his own video – and then deletes it
I’m not sure his reputation can handle many more “I got cheated on by a Nigerian princess” moments.
Lee Zeldin: Trump is now closer to victory in New York than ever before
If Zeldin campaigns with Trump in the Empire State, he could have the best chance of success as a Republican presidential candidate in decades in New York.
Taylor Swift, the serial offender and misanthropist, could seal the end of Western civilization
If men become a significant minority of the American concert audience in the future, we are doomed.
WHAT IS ON OFFER?
Today on Capitol Hill…
The critters are still on the move today, so no meetings or hearings are scheduled for Monday, but the House of Representatives is Preparation to consider fiscal year 2025 spending legislation, with three of those measures scheduled to come to a vote this week.
White House, what’s going on
President Joe Biden remains at Camp David, where he Juicing is preparing for Thursday’s debate with former President Donald Trump. The man who has held public office since 1972 – apart from his four-year term after Obama as the gigantic guy a private citizen – and head of government of the USA for three and a half years, has to make a lot of preparations to compete against the “Bad Orange Man” for 90 minutes with a amiable host/moderator team, without a live audience and with controlled microphones.
Full speed ahead…
Trump’s legal team is back in court on Monday to present arguments on Jack Smith’s appointment and the budget clause before Judge Aileen Cannon in the Southern District of Florida in the morning. In the afternoon, Cannon will hear arguments on Smith’s motion to modify the conditions of Trump’s release.
The Supreme Court is not expected to make any decisions on Monday, but today marks the anniversary of the Dobbs Decision. A victory for life, even if the Republicans often seem like the proverbial dog that hit the car on this issue.
MORNING THOUGHTS
This will undoubtedly be one of those busy news weeks, between the Supreme Court decisions, the hearings in Trump’s case in Florida, Thursday’s debate and all the chaos the world is throwing at us.
