Biden’s support among young voters in Georgia collapses

The latest poll in another key state – Georgia – promises trouble for President Joe Biden. Former President Donald Trump is ahead by five percentage points in the up-to-date Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll. Trump received 43 percent of the vote, Biden 38 percent.

Georgia is crucial for both candidates because it has recently become a swing state. The 2020 presidential election in this state was decided by fewer than 12,000 votes, showing how vital every vote is, and neither candidate can afford to lose any of their base.

Well, this latest poll shows Biden getting just 12 percent of the vote among young people between 18 and 29. That’s right: 12 percent. That should set off alarm bells at Biden headquarters, but they might dismiss it as “right-wing propaganda,” just as they ignored the smaller number of black voters supporting Biden this time around.

The same poll shows Trump at 37 percent and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 29 percent. Georgia could be a state where RFK Jr. takes more votes from Biden than Trump, which could assist Trump win this swing state.

Decision Desk Headquarters predicts Trump has a 63 percent chance of winning Georgia, but voters cannot be complacent. They must show up and vote in gigantic numbers to guarantee Trump’s victory in the state.

Although Biden flatters young voters, he doesn’t seem to resonate with many of them. They can’t afford to buy a home because of high interest rates, low housing supply, and high demand. Gas prices went through the roof and are still much higher than they were when Trump was in office, food prices are higher, and pretty much everything in between. Some see the American dream slipping away and want to change course by voting Biden out, as do those pushing left-wing policies that drive up gas prices and their trillions of dollars in spending that fuel inflation.

Young voters turning away from Biden and the Democratic Party does not necessarily mean they will automatically become conservative and join the Republicans. For Republicans, however, it has two implications: Either Trump’s chances of winning will enhance if those who voted for Biden and now feel betrayed stay home or vote for a third party. Or they will vote outright for Trump in November, which will only benefit him and hurt Biden’s chances of winning.
