The scandals just seem to be piling up under the Biden administration. One that resurfaced this week involves the State Department under Biden and Iran; more specifically, Rob Malley, the former special envoy to Iran who is being investigated by Republicans in Congress for seemingly shady activities related to his handling of sensitive classified information. RedState has been closely following developments in the story, which stretches back to July 2023.

In the latest twist of the story, the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed a measure in a bipartisan vote that prohibits the State Department from either reinstating him as a diplomat or bringing him back as an adviser as part of the appropriations bill set to be voted on Friday, as reported:

about the NYPost:

House members voted on Thursday on a bipartisan basis for a measure that would bar disgraced former Iran special envoy Rob Malley from receiving a State Department salary.

The House voted 218-188 to deny the State Department any funding for Malley’s reinstatement or rehiring. Malley is currently on leave and under investigation by the FBI for allegedly leaking classified information.

Eleven Democrats joined 207 Republicans in voting for the amendment, introduced by Representative Claudia Tenney (R-NY).

Another 188 Democrats in the House of Representatives opposed the measure, while 31 representatives did not vote.

The amendment is part of a budget bill expected to be passed on Friday that would provide more than $51 billion to fund the State Department and related programs.

In a related story that you probably haven’t heard much about in classic media, the House of Representatives on Wednesday Voted a similar move to cut Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ salary, which, you won’t be surprised, passed virtually along party lines (193-173), with one Republican switching sides. Since Democrats aren’t exactly willing to hold Mayorkas responsible for, well, anything, the Senate will quickly strike that part during the vote.

While we’re on the subject, I found the following factoid amusing: Although the bill failed to pass, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) cheekily introduced an amendment that would give Mayorkas a symbolic paycheck of exactly one dollar.

Still, the House investigation into Malley’s alleged dealings with Iran continues, and we should hear more about how it plays out soon. Stay tuned.
