Chip Roy wants to introduce a resolution on the 25th Amendment after the nightmare of the Biden debate – will honest Democrats join him?

Thursday night’s presidential debate was one for the ages. Former President Donald Trump may have failed to answer some questions, but he was piercing, articulate and knew the facts of his past. And then there was President Joe Biden. Descriptions of his performance include the words “sad,” “pathetic” and “shocking,” although Democrats and the media are really the only ones “shocked” by it. Biden’s mumbling, stumbling, pipedream-filled performance has Democrats panicking. Only die-hard Democrats and those paid to do so still cling to the idea that Biden is tanned, rested and ready for another four years. A Republican congressman officially stands to say “enough.”

Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas said Friday: He will introduce a resolution that to remove Joe Biden from office after Biden’s disastrous performance at the debate. Roy announced the resolution on Friday morning X and said: The resolution on the 25th Amendment would Biden’s Cabinet members consider Biden unfit to perform the duties of the office of the President. Roy said of the resolution:

“I intend to table a resolution calling for the [vice president] to immediately use its powers under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to convene and mobilize key Cabinet officials to [president] is unable to discharge successfully the duties and powers of his office.”

Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities have been the subject of sporadic speculation, but became clearer in February. In an interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur in relation to Hur’s report described Biden’s memory as “foggy,” “fuzzy,” “flawed” and “poor,” citing Biden’s improper handling of classified documents. The report also revealed other surprising details, such as that Biden could not remember when his son Beau died or when he was vice president. Thursday night’s debacle, in which Biden was repeatedly unable to finish sentences, was hoarse and incoherent, brought that speculation to the forefront and raised more questions.

While the idea of removing Biden from the Democratic ticket may be tempting for some Republicans, there are valid warnings to be careful what you wish for. Possible successors to Biden include California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, or even Vice President Kamala Harris, although she Poll numbers lower than Bidenand the Democrats’ penchant for last-minute “irregularities” should not be underestimated.

But my colleague Nick Arama has asked a question that many Americans have been asking for some time: Who really runs the country? Barack Obama said in an interview with Stephen Colbert:

“If I could make an arrangement where I had a backup, a front man or front woman, and they had an earpiece and I was sitting in my basement in my tracksuit watching the stuff, then I could sort of recite the lyrics but someone else would do the talking and the ceremony, then I would be OK with that because I find the work fascinating.”

Is that really the case? Do unelected Obama supporters like Valerie Jarrett, Susan Rice or Eric Holder really have the say?

What is extremely concerning to Representative Roy and other Republicans is the massive national security problem posed by Joe Biden’s apparent cognitive issues. Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and the mullahs in Iran are now aware that America has a dangerously feeble leader. If you are someone who wants to harm America, you may have thought that the perfect time to act would be between the election and Inauguration Day. After Thursday, however, you realize that your window of opportunity has expanded enormously.

The biggest question is: Will Rep. Roy’s proposed resolution make a difference? We know Republicans are concerned. But Democrats saw the same thing as their GOP colleagues on Thursday night. Is there anyone among them intellectually honest enough to admit that something needs to be done? Or are they so addicted and obsessed with power that nothing else interests them?

It is not known whether the Republicans will force a vote on the resolution or whether House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) supports it. If Republican lawmakers force a vote, it would be very awkward for Democrats to have to officially declare that they have no problem with Biden. Johnson said Cabinet members should “look into their hearts.” We’ll see if they have any.
