Never in the history of television has a show captivated me as much as ABC’s “The View.” From brilliant political commentary to compelling intellectuality to astute analysis to a wealth of wisdom and brilliant insight like no other, I – OK, fine. Total crap. Let’s get on with the show.
In any case, the ladies of “The View” were extremely “pissed off” by Tuesday’s episode, as a growing number of Democrats are calling on the embattled Joe Biden to abandon his re-election campaign after his humiliating debate performance, his subsequent disastrous interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, and numerous other missteps.
From the perspective of female geniuses, when you’re 81 years senior and you’re “trying so hard to tell the truth,” you’re just not going to perform as well. Translation: hysterical, utter bullshit.
Genie Joy Behar in particular was not ecstatic, explaining that while she “wasn’t here yesterday,” she had been “watching TV all week” and was “a little tired of all the Biden-baiting” that was going on. As Joyless put it:
Frankly, I’m pissed about this. There’s a lot of Biden bashing and no calls for this sexually abusive felon to resign.
Why, I’m shocked. Whataboutism and a budget-friendly, over-the-top jab at Trump. Anyway, the ridiculousness continued:
After some interruptions, Behar said:
Everybody’s calling it a disaster, a catastrophe. You know why Trump was better at it, because he lies. He’s been practicing his lies for two or three years. This guy has done nothing but spread lies that we’ve heard over and over again.
When you tell the truth, as Biden has tried so challenging to do, it doesn’t come basic. It’s so basic to rehearse and practice your lies and then spew them out in a debate like he did. That’s what was going on there. I’m sticking with Biden right now because I feel like he’s our best bet, and who wants to vote for Trump? Even his wife can’t stand him right now.
“When you tell the truth, as Biden has tried so hard to tell the truth, it’s not easy.”
This single line right here illustrates the level of ignorance it takes for a regular viewer of “The View” to continue watching this idiotic show. No, Joy, Biden looked and spoke like he didn’t know where the hell he was or what the hell he was trying to say. through a 90-minute debate.
Next up, the always brilliant Sarah Haines:
Well, I think I’m going to stick with Biden to the end no matter what, but I think these conversations absolutely need to happen. I agree with Jon Stewart. Shut up and sit down, or whatever people say to everybody who criticizes this, I think that’s dismissive because conforming is what Republicans do.
We have spoken time and again at this table about the incredible cowardice of Republicans who stand up to Trump. In fact, they bend to his every wish. The Democrats have always been better and they debate, they disagree and they do it publicly and loudly.
Wait a minute. As it happens, I wrote about Jon Stewart and his comments on the state of the “Biden problem” for the Democratic Party on Tuesday. What Stewart really saidand in which context was that:
There was no real[Democratprimary…AndletmesaythisauthoritarianismandDonaldTrumparen’ttheonlythreatsourdemocracyfacesAnarthriticstatusquounableorunwillingtorespondinanywaytotheconcernsofvoterswhojustreceivednewandurgentinformationabouttheircandidatealsoerodesconfidenceandfaithinthesystemofgovernment'[Democratprimary…AndletmesaythisauthoritarianismandDonaldTrumparen’ttheonlythreatsourdemocracyfacesAnarthriticstatusquounableorunwillingtorespondinanywaytotheconcernsofvoterswhojustreceivednewandurgentinformationabouttheircandidatealsoerodesconfidenceandfaithinthesystemofgovernment'[demokratischeVorwahl…UndlassenSiemicheinessagen:AutoritarismusundDonaldTrumpsindnichtdieeinzigenBedrohungendenenunsereDemokratieausgesetztistEinarthritischerStatusquodernichtinderLageodernichtwillensistinirgendeinerWeiseaufdieSorgenderWählerzureagierendiegeradeneueunddringendeInformationenüberihrenKandidatenerhaltenhabenuntergräbtauchdasVertrauenunddenGlaubenindasRegierungssystem‘[Democratprimary…AndletmesaythisauthoritarianismandDonaldTrumparen’ttheonlythreatsourdemocracyfacesAnarthriticstatusquounableorunwillingtorespondinanywaytotheconcernsofvoterswhojustreceivednewandurgentinformationabouttheircandidatealsoerodesconfidenceandfaithinthesystemofgovernment’“Come with me or shut up” … is not a particularly convincing pro-democracy bumper sticker, nor is “What are you going to do?”
I’m sure this is completely beyond Sarah Haines’ comprehension, but #ProTip: When quoting someone, know what they said verbatim and quote them in the proper context.
Jon Stewart: ‘Come with me or shut up’ doesn’t ease voters’ concerns about Biden’s brain
And finally, the wisdom of Mother Whoopi™.
Four years ago, everyone was mad at Joe because they said, “You blew it. You said that.” Look, he’s 81. He’s 81. And he had a bad night, just like I have bad nights, just like you have bad nights, and you can’t plan a bad night. A bad night sneaks up on your butt and takes you like a puppet and ruins your night and it happens and we’ve all been there.
I’m sticking with Joe because, first of all, I think he’s doing a really good job, and as I said yesterday, if you show me where he’s not doing his job, where he’s not performing up to par, I don’t care if he can talk on camera or not. I don’t care, I want to make sure he’s doing the things that are essential to me and many others for America, no matter what side of the aisle you’re on.
I want the guy who cares about America, not the guy who tells me he’s going to be the free world – the leader of the free world that he doesn’t believe in. He doesn’t believe in a free world.
Yes, I have nothing – except that the last line makes no sense at all.
Until the next “The View” Magic Moment™: Do good, people – in the name of constitutional conservatism.
