BEST MORNING

Shocking report: Intelligence resources diverted from Trump rally in Pennsylvania to Jill Biden, more disturbing information

So you’re saying that Jill Biden was given priority over Trump because they treated Trump merely as a former president and not necessarily as the current candidate against whom there have been numerous threats.

Roseanne Barr and others criticize Eric Swalwell for his disgusting post about the Trump shooter

But all these diversionary tactics cannot change the fact that it is the Democrats, including Joe Biden, who have stepped up the attacks on Trump in order to demonize and dehumanize him as an existential “threat.”

Democratic congressman denounces inflammatory rhetoric of his own party – “These are dangerous lies”

I applaud Jared Golden for calling out his fellow Democrats’ propensity for violence. I just wish most of his Democratic colleagues had the same guts.

WHAT IS ON OFFER?

Today on Capitol Hill…

There isn’t much going on in Congress this week due to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, but we will no doubt hear a lot from members of Congress following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. There are several calls for an investigation into security failures and the Secret Service.

White House, what’s going on

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will be briefed by Department of Homeland Security and law enforcement officials overdue Monday morning. Karine Jean-Pierre will hold a press conference in the afternoon, and later Biden will travel to Las Vegas.

Full speed ahead…

Jury deliberations in the corruption trial of Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) in the Southern District of New York will continue Monday, so we may have a verdict soon.

MORNING THOUGHTS

As confusing as it was that the Fourth of July came in the middle of the week, the last 48 hours have confounded all sense of time as we feverishly covered news of the assassination. I vacillate between numbness and intense emotion. I’m elderly enough to remember when Ronald Reagan was shot and didn’t realize then how close it was. When I think about the millimeters and milliseconds we were spared on Saturday, I’m overwhelmed. Wherever you land on the love him/hate him DJT spectrum, be thankful we were spared the unthinkable, even as we pray for Corey Comperatore’s loved ones and for the recovery of the other injured. Because if the assassin had succeeded, we would be in an unimaginably horrible place right now.

LIGHTER FOOD

Tone up. (Good reflexes, boy!)
