On the first day of the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Monday, Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald J. Trump chose Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his vice presidential running mate. As many of you already know, I was firmly on Team Byron Donald, so Trump’s choice of Vance was disappointing and a little anticlimactic. Why him? I say that not as a complaint, but as a legitimate question.

I am amazed at the number of people (outside of Ohio) who have never heard of JD Vance or have little idea who he is. Born James Donald Bowman on August 2, 1984, Vance made his first major appearance on the national stage with his 2016 memoir, “
Vance’s story is so inspiring, from rags to riches,
Vance has repeatedly raised these concerns before and during his Senate campaign. Darvio Morrow is an entrepreneur, producer, and co-host of the podcast The Outlaws Radio Show. Morrow was also born, raised, and still lives in Ohio. Morrow has hosted Vance twice on his podcast, and much of the conversation with Vance revolved around how to revitalize and motivate the working class of any race or ethnicity, how the uncontrolled southern border is destroying the country, and how corporations and their collaboration with China are restricting freedoms and destroying America’s ability to create jobs for the working class.
JD Vance was on @TheOutlawsRadio before. Twice. And in his first interview, he said encouraging things about building a coalition of the black, white and Hispanic working class. I haven’t seen as much of that as I would have liked, but we’ll see. https://t.co/de4Wp9YvSJ https://t.co/Ul928BW0G6 pic.twitter.com/UkdGpbqXgu

In this November 24, 2021, interview On the Outlaws Radio Show (excerpt above), Vance said he was running for Senate because he was tired of complaining and decided to join the fight. I can understand someone who would walk the talk. Vance said, “There’s no one who really stands up for normal people.” In a August 2022 In an interview with Outlaws at CPAC, Vance echoed the same sentiment and explained it: “We need a whole new generation of people to step in and fix what’s wrong.”
Like Trump, Vance didn’t have to give up his comfortable life (he married his law school girlfriend and they have two newborn children) to deal with the chaos in Washington. Vance responded, “It’s worth it if I want to make a difference, and the only way I’m going to make that happen is by pissing off the right people.”
This sentence alone is probably the main reason why Vance caught Trump’s attention and is now his vice presidential candidate.
Much hay has been and will continue to be made the fact that Vance was a staunch NeverTrumper in 2016. Left-wing and political publications reported on it, especially after Vance decided to run for the Senate. Vance’s rival in the Senate, Josh Mandel, used the tweets and interviews in attack ads against him. In 2021, Vance walked back his criticism of Trump and said he regretted itApparently, Trump had no problem with Vance’s previous views, as he supported him in his Senate candidacy.
“Like many others, I criticized Trump in 2016,” Vance said. “And I ask people not to judge me for what I said in 2016, because I have said quite frankly that I said those critical things and I regret them, and I regret being wrong about the man. I think he was a good president, I think he made a lot of good decisions for the people, and I think he took a lot of criticism.”
Vance added that he himself had been criticized for standing up for voters and the interests of the former president. He said: “The most important thing, in my opinion, is not what you said five years ago, but whether you are willing to stand up and take the criticism and the blows because you are actually defending the interests of the American people.”
Since then, Vance has been one of Trump’s most vocal supporters and has defended the GOP candidate and MAGA quite effectively, as he did this February 2024 interview with Mr. “Bimbo Eruption” himself, George Stephanopoulos from “ABC News This Week”.
Because of JD Vance’s passion and commitment to the American working class, he has received the full endorsement of Teamsters Union President Sean O’Brien, who, in an unprecedented move, was given a speaking slot at the RNC convention. Nuance is not a mighty point of either party, and union leaders have proven that they are not really on the side of workers, but on the side of defending their positions. So this embrace of Vance by O’Brien gives me pause. The Teamsters are part of the same union apparatus that pressured the elected officials they support (mostly Democrats) to pass the PRO Act, which would devastate America’s independent freelancers and miniature businesses. Will Vance’s commitment to restoring the working class come at the expense of the over-empowered? 64 million independent contractors who just want to do the work you decidefree from union restrictions and interference?
At about 6:15 in this interview today, the head of the Teamsters – one of the loudest #FreelanceBusting Voices in America – praises Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance for his stance on independent contractors.https://t.co/KFWr9LS3nD

Vance is also one of the Republican senators who refused to sign the Congressional Review Act, introduced by Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana. That CRA worked to repeal the U.S. Department of Labor’s final rule on independent contractors, which seeks to accomplish through regulation what Congress failed to do when it failed to pass the PRO Act. Vance’s words and his record so far are all we have to determine where he really stands. Given Trump’s age, the fact that he can only stay in office for four more years if he wins the election, and especially the assassination attempt on him on Saturday, it’s crucial to know how a President J.D. Vance would govern the American people.
With the conventional media already collapsing over this decision, much more will come to featherlight and be revealed, and all Americans – Democrats, Republicans, and others – must pay close attention.
