There were many powerful speeches at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, but perhaps the most powerful came from Madeline Brame, the mother of a slain U.S. Army veteran, with her passionate condemnation of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his lenient policies toward crime.
Brame’s son, Sergeant Hason Correa, a 35-year-old married father of three, was brutally beaten and stabbed to death in Harlem in 2018. Brame’s anger was fueled by the way the cases against his killers were handled by Bragg’s office after he took office.
Every minute of this speech is GOLD.

I let her words speak for themselves:
Good evening everyone. My son, Sergeant Hason Correa, a retired veteran of the Afghanistan war, was shot at by the Taliban and then stabbed to death on the streets of New York City.
The four attackers responsible for his death initially had to stand trial. However, that changed with the election of District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
(Not surprisingly, the audience erupted in boos at the mention of Bragg.)
Suddenly, the gang assault and murder charges against two of the lunatics responsible for my son’s death were dropped. One of them was sentenced to 14 months in prison – Alvin Bragg charged her with “assault with a shoe.” And another was sentenced to seven years.
I later learned that Alvin Bragg often releases unsafe criminals and reduces their numbers. He wants to empty the prisons and return violent criminals to the streets every day.
The injustice has been devastating to me and my family. I don’t want anyone else to experience the senseless pain that many other victims in the United States of America endure every day. That’s why I’ve decided to apply the voice God has given me to be the voice of the voiceless across America.
We need justice for the victims. And we need accountability for prosecutors who fail in their duty – prosecutors who are supple on crime, like Alvin Bragg in New York, Kim Foxx in Chicago, and George Gascón in Los Angeles, have turned our great country and our cities into war zones.
Poor and neglected communities like mine are suffering. And who else here is infirmed and tired of being so infirmed and tired?
The Democratic Party, which needy minorities have been committed to for decades – including me, OK? – has betrayed us, it has stabbed us in the back. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who claim to represent us, have failed us. They have neglected needy minority communities across America.
But my eyes have been opened – as have so many other needy minorities across America. Donald Trump shares our values: love of God, family and country. He is a victim of the same corrupt system as me and my family. He is committed to creating economic opportunity, helping addicts with long-term, residential drug programs, rolling back deadly bail reforms that kill our children every day, and supporting our police – we support the NYPD; we support the police! Support the police – the NYPD – support the police!
Trump was right when he said they were out to get us – he’s just getting in their way. And you know what? He always will. That’s why I’m standing with him today.
Let’s make America sheltered again – and re-elect our Donald J. Trump! Thank you and good night.
Brame received a standing ovation for her stirring remarks – including from Trump himself. In a night full of passionate speeches, her speech was an outstanding one.
