Justice’s 60-pound English bulldog has been featured in articles in the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today and many others.

Babydog has also been the subject of numerous jokes from late-night talk show hosts, including Stephen Colbert who said she was better suited to the presidency than independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy because she “takes her worm medicine.”

Colbert’s joke about deworming refers to RFK Jr.’s revelation that he suffers from a brain worm that causes mental confusion and memory loss. The New York Times reported A doctor told Kennedy that a worm in his brain that had eaten part of it and then died had caused a dim spot that was apparent on brain scans.

Governor Jim Justice is the Republican candidate for a U.S. Senate seat from West Virginia. He defeated his challenger, Rep. Alex Mooney, with nearly 62% of the vote, according to the Associated Press.

In November, he will face Wheeling Mayor and Democratic challenger Glenn Elliott. The seat is currently held by Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), who has announced he will not seek re-election in 2024.
