New poll shows Democratic voters clash with media as Blue Anon supporters grow

It’s been less than a week since the assassination of Donald Trump. This is only day six, and stepping back and watching the reaction reveals so much about the left. The press is already embarrassing itself (still embarrassing itself – yes, we know), the Democratic Party leadership is a downed anthill, and now we have proof that its voting base is descending into a hive of overheated hysteria.

As expected, there is no shortage of silly theorems on social media about the July 13 shooting, spouting every variation of what transpired as opposed to what actually happened. I had one such exchange (since deleted) claiming Trump’s injuries were staged. When I asked for an explanation as to how that could be when there was one death and two other people in intensive care, I was amused to hear that those casualties were real, but Trump’s injury had been planned days in advance.

Amazingly, it is people who are still allowed to exploit cutlery at their own risk. But there is an oversupply of cutlery on social media, and that is hardly surprising. Even more surprising are the results of a recent Morning Consult survey shows how widespread this mindset has become among the Democratic electorate. In the poll released this week, respondents were asked several questions about last weekend’s shooting, and one result is revealing. Or disturbing. And also amusing, in the indifference on display.

Most of the results were in line with expectations. In the survey, around 60 percent of respondents attributed the shooting to the overheated discourse in the country, and just over half were “very concerned” that there could be further outbreaks of violence of this kind. When looking at the key figures, one result is particularly striking. When asked about their impressions of “Claims that the shooting was staged and not intended to kill former President Donald Trump were credible or not“, a third of Biden supporters agreed that this could be the case.

Looking back, we see that for years the press elaborate in this country was referring to QAnon conspiracies as something that was not only widespread, but was basically the driving force of Republican policy. The telling aspect is that if QAnon was ever heard, it was mostly mentioned in the media. It was sporadic to hear it emerge organically in conservative circles, in social media threads and the like. However, you did see the press frequently attempt to claim that certain party agenda items were being relabeled as “Q” policy.

But during all this time, no solemn polls could be found showing that Republican voters were followers of “Q” to that level. That 33 percent of Democrats are open to the idea that Trump’s shooting was a fraudulent reflects just how bad the last few months have been for everyone involved on the left. Biden and the Democrats are undoubtedly in a state of utter turmoil, the sympathetic members of the press are struggling to maintain some level of legitimacy, and voters are in a state of utter dismay.

This is another case of the media being exposed in recent weeks. After years of showing us that conspiracy theorists are supposedly a plague on politics, it’s notable that today we don’t see such enthusiastic coverage of such huge numbers of Democrats who believe these theories. Perhaps one reason for this press apathy is the number of journalists who believe this nonsense themselves.
